need to ID an engine
where should i look for serial numbers or codes that will tell me about the motor.
i have a 2004/2005 3v 5.4 out of an f-series. it looks like this but dirtier. i want to know everything about it. thanks. austin ![]() |

They should still be the same from the older 4.6 & 5.4 blocks.
The engine casting number will be at the bottom of the block (left or right side) just above the machined surface for the oil pan. The heads will be marked in front/rear (depending on orientation of install).
