you don't see the problem here encouraging the wear of name tags (even though it is not their "real name". In saying that you prove them useless.

then you go on in your second paragraph arguing that the background check would be useless? anyone else here confused?

I think that the application that they already fill out (just like any other job) is plenty of paperwork. They have to put on where they have worked etc and the manager of the bar may call to verify etc etc. I think that that is sufficient. As for the nametag gig. WTF? just plain stoopid if you ask me.
