A little unfair, expecially to fine spectators 500 dollars. The authors name does remind me of an old popular rap song, a song made for someone in California.....

well it looks like everyone will stop street racing.... oh wait, no all it will do is fine those who get caught more. People think a harder "Street Racing" law will stop people from going out and doing something, but after the 1st will anybody really let some Ricer in a FAST 18 sec car pull up next to you at a light with an open road and rev on you without wanting to leave him in your rear view mirror. I don't think that will happen. Just makes you pay more when you pass a cop down the road (but then again if the ricer is still 1/2 a mile back can he say it was a race?):threegear

Yall are reading too much into this. This law came about because of public outcry because of so much press about street racing accidents and fatalities. It is really no different than before, it just focuses on the organized aspect of it. If I were to see two cars pull away from the a light and accelerate into a "drag race', I would pull them over and depending on their honesty, give them a warning (if they were indeed honest, also dependent on traffic, weather conditions etc).
The new law is really dealing with "a spot" where several different cars are lining up and a hundred or so others are gathered to watch, ie organized "event".

sometimes when a few of us would be in houston or something we'd go to the westheimer strip and grab a bite to eat and sit in a parking lot by the road and watch the races/cars
Could you get busted for that? ![]() |
