New Tires

help me pick out my tires.

I will be in the market for new tires come the holiday season (Christmas).

I currently have sumo's on my car, and there not the best. Im looking for something with good traction, good tread life and decent price.

tire size is 245/45z/17

your input would be greatly appreciated

I have BFG's and need to replace them as well.

Tire Rack has the same tires/sizes and they're cheaper. If you go thru Discount, ask them if they price match, because you'll save $20+ dollars.

discount tire carries Nittos. That's where I've gotten my Nittos since '02.

Tire Search by Brand - Discount Tire Co.

I want those, but they don't make them in the size I need. They seem to cater to 18" + sizes.

Go Khumo MX all around
affordable but a good sticky tire. stickier than a KDW but a little less than a KD.
they absolutely put my sumitumos to shame!
I run khumos u front right now with 315 nitto drags in the rear. I like this setup if you are looking for something to race on and lant the front tires in hard turns.

Yokohama AVS 100's. I have had four sets on my coupe and absolutely love them. They suck in snow but I seriously doubt you are going to find a tire that gives you great grip on dry pavement that are good in snow. These tires are great in the rain as well. You may be questioning the four sets on my car in the last six years...I drive this car like it was meant to be driven and that is very hard. Its a full MM car and I use this car to put a smile on my face every time I drive it. If I was easier on the car I could see getting 30-40K miles from a set but that is absolutely no fun and tires are cheaper than a shrink.

Yokohama AVS ES100

Tire Rack has them for $118 each and Discount Tire will price match.

I've become a big fan of the Fuzion ZRi. I run the 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/17 out back and just had a new set put on this morning. Mounted, balanced, road hazard, etc. for just a hair over $600.

Those tires are okay, but at my power level they aren't adequate as far as traction goes.
