ok so my 2nd gear is gone on my 88 gt. its a 5 speed. i was told by a shop that the clutch quadrant or something like that needed adjusting. that it was stretched or something like that.
i have every other gear 1,3,4,5,r .....the clutch grabs fine in every gear but 2nd.no gears slip or grind or anything. just 2nd gear doesnt grab.
any ideas?? and if it is this clutch quadrant or whatever how hard is that to adjust?
So when you put it into 2nd gear what happens? Is it like its in neutral?

i just went out put it in 2nd gear and started the car. when i let out of the clutch it started grinding.
it doesnt grind in second until i let the clutch out. it goes in fine. just not grabbing.

you know when you shift you feel the stick lock in to gear. i dont feel that locking at all
i'm no expert but my eclipse does the same thing and the little i do know about transmission internals tells me it's a shift for or something linkage related. i'd say prolly a bent shift fork.
It probably needs a 2nd gear, 2nd gear syncro and 1-2 slider. Possibly a 1-2 shift fork. I can take a look at it if you need it rebuilt.
where bouts am I looking at as far as cost goes for what u said if that is the problem.
