noise from the tranny
Just recently the there has been this winding whistling(kinda hard to describe) noise that develops as Im driving. It only happens when the car is in gear, and it goes away as soon as I push in the clutch or let off the gas. The thing that really gets me is it only happens sporadically. I will be driving along and everything will be fine then the next stoplight the noise will start up as I go through the gears. There doesnt seem to be any power loss. Any ideas would be appreciated

I have the same problem dude but mines an auto. It only does it in overdrive at low speeds like if i hold it at 1800 it will do the whining sound. But if i let off the gas it will stop. No clue what it is.

Well I have to get part of my rearend opened up and looked at. The guy thinks it is some bearing that is is bad(no the TO). Fluid is also is seeping out from somewhere back there too. Overall I dont think its going to be a big deal(just having to replace some bearings and not the whole rear end) .So hopefully I will find out for sure this morning or afternoon. Thanks for your help though

Well I am pissed. After further inspection, the whole rear end is shot. I had a pint of differential fluid put in a month ago the the guy left the plug where he put it while putting in the fluid so I was driving around without a plug. So atleast I dont have to pay the 1300 to have the rearend replaced. Then comes ANOTHER freakin problem that I didnt do anything to desreve. My cars previous owner had been using the wrong tranny fluid, instead of ATF he was using gear oil, I guess its to thick or something and it wore down the o-rings, then I figure since they got the tranny out might as well put in a new clutch, so about 2500 dollars later my car is gonna run about the same it did before:jeff: :jeff: :jeff:
