    O2 sensor delete

i have a couple questions, any and all info would be awesome. ok here it goes. i had BBK shorty headers and off road X-pipe installed on my car with cat delete. now im getting O2 sensor codes (check engine light) as i knew i would. i have heard of getting a O2 sensor delete kit to go with the upgrades that i have just had done and that it would take care of my problem. ok so heres the questions,

1: what is this O2 sensor delete and how does it work.
2: where can i get one, and how much is it. im in the McKinney area.
3: once its installed will it allow my car to pass inspection.

    thanks in advance.

    1. don't know what an o2 sensor delete is. you need to have the rear o2's turned off in the tune
    2. see #1
    3. whether or not your car will pass inspection depends on if your area requires obdII testing. just turning the sensors off will not get the car to pass. you need a "emissions tune" that will get your car to pass even though the o2 sensor aren't working. not sure of anyone local that can do that, and i don't think too many tuners will advertise that they will do it either. you may have to put the stock h pipe on temporarily to pass if you're subject to obd testing. some folks say the spark plug anti-fouler trick will fool the pcm into thinking everything is in working order, but i've never tried it.

also, when i had shorty headers i was getting codes for the front sensors also. so you need to pull the codes and see what you're actually getting.

I believe you talking about a set of mils(malfunction indication light)as far as your cat delete goes. They go between the 02 sensors and the factory harness and plug right in.BBK makes a them and a set will run you about $50.00 plus shipping. You can get them on line, google BBK mils and you'll find them. They basically "trick" the computer by sending a signal that the cats are still on the car.I put them in them when I installed my long tubes and o/r X,no problems. They are only for the rear sensors. As far as inspection goes, like Blu Ovl said,if you dont have the emissions testing in your area you might find a shop that might pass you if they don't look under your car.Ask other Mustang owners where they take their cars, they can probably help you w/ that.Hope this helped.

i think a good tune with something like an xcal will take care of it... if you buy one from sct, they will usually work with you on it... i'll have to look into it, but i may be able to flash a factory tune onto your car with o2's turned off... you can still pass inspection but it will take a while for enough monitors to clear to pass... i'm an inspector in denton..

i haven't experienced this myself, but i'm told the mil eliminators are inconsistent on 05+ cars. sometimes they work, sometimes not.

do you guys to obd testing there? we don't have it in san antonio and i've never had a problem getting the car to pass with no cats and the rear o2's turned off. i'm not sure what i'll do if we ever start obd testing here

Thanks for the input on mils for the '05 and up.I thought about that after my post,I've never run across anyone who has put mils on a '05 and up to cover the o/r pipe.Interesting,a little research is in order, thanks Blu Ovl.

Having an oxygen sensor delete can be a little bit tricky, but try to really check if things would really be efficient if you do that. From my experience, it can be very much costful on stuffs on your car. I'm not sure if that's the case.

You cannot totally delete the o2 sensors. your car will not run with out the frt 2 as they tell the computer how much fuel to allow the injectors to squirt based on the efficiency of the burn taking place. You can turn off the rears as stated or run mils if available for your car.

I can answer #3 for you...with no cats on your car, it's definitely illegal. But...that won't stop some shops out there from giving you an inspection sticker.
