My grandmothers friend got bitten in her garden by a black widow and was dead within hours. Be careful there both common in Texas.
She died from a Black Widow bite? WOW. I have been bitten 2 times by a Black Widow, and all I got was pretty sick and cramping muscles.

My mom's friend's dog groomer's cousin was killed by a black widow. True story.

Seriously though,

If a black widow spider bites a person, do not panic! No one in the United States has died from a black widow spider bite in over 10 years. Very often the black widow will not inject any venom into the bite and no serious symptoms develop. Wash the wound well with soap and water to help prevent infection.

I am the biggest pansy you will ever meet when it comes to spiders. I have actually bailed out of a moving car because a spider came down between me and the driver. It started when I got bit inside my ear by one about 12 years ago. I dont care what kind of spider it is, if I see it, it is going to die.

And brown recluses are absolutely aggressive. They will come at you. That being said, there should be no way to confuse a brown recluse with a brown widow.

Brown Recluse:

Brown Widow:

As big as that brown recluse looks in the picture, they do not get very big. About the size of a quarter.

You should see the Camel Spiders from Iraq....talk about HUGE!!! They will charge you too...not scared at all. We used to catch them and scorpions..and then throw them in box, and see who wins.
