Opinions on San Antonio Autoplex?
Hello,
This is our first post in this newly found website. Here is our statement: "We are here in San Antonio. TX, beginning the process of developing land for an international raceway with multiple sponsors. We have just came to the conclusion that San Antonio would be the city to place this is. Due to the hills and rock formations north west of the city (I10W past Bandera) this seems to be the ideal location for a world class road racing curcuit." Our goal: "to provide San Antonio [7th largest city in the country] and Southern Texas a few hundred new jobs and an attraction that the incredibley laid-back atmosphere of San Antonio deserves. We aim to caitor to SCCA regulations, yet offer a public track that can be shared by all licensed and operational road going sports cars and their enthusiastic drivers." Something no one else has: "This new curcuit will not only contain a simple road racing curcuit, but a very large and complex stringed course rivaling the best of Europe and the West Coast. Further, the course is being planned to contain within its perimerter: [EDIT FOR CENSORSHIP] We are here at Lonestarstangs.com to survey the general Texas population on what they would like to see come of this proposed track? Any suggestions or idea's containing this curcuit? And what the population itself tings of the entire project? We urge members to ask their family members and siblings inside and outside of the car enthusiast community; to find the true opinion Texans have about bringing a new market, new jobs, and new people from around the world to San Antonio. Thank you all and God Bless. Last edited by OttoplexCre8or1; 07-21-2006 at 01:49 PM. |

wow. that sounds like a pretty awsome plan. san antonio is kinda of a centralize city and also a great toursist city for other motorheads to enjoy while/when there down here at this "big" autoplex. but hopefully plans do come through and we get to enjoy it.

i know im not the only road race enthusiast here. i was wasting porsches in my stang a few weeks ago at TWS..
and speaking of TWS, id be very happy to see a road course within a reasonable distance, so i dont have to drive 3 hrs just to get there! i heard about this on another site as well.. i hope it comes to pass. ![]()

ZZzzzz...

It'd be nice, I would love to see it happen. But San Antonio is more like the biggest town, hard to consider it a city... I think the local 1/4 strip and speedway barely get enough people there most of the time.

Well, we are hopeing to bring more people to San Antonio from the East and West coasts, New England, and Europe. This track will be a world class attraction, meaning that people in the auto and racing industry will be coming from all over to attend events and practice on the track. One of our investors is a Ferrari finatic and is looking foward to seeing if F1 has interest. Since the last time F1 was in San Antonio was back in the late 80's-early 90's running through downtown streets. He is looking to see them running "lap after lap of 18000rpm controlled chaos." ^^^sorry i will have to continue this later, the F430 just showed up from the shop and its time for a ride. |

I would love to see and participate in racing while turning my car more than two times. Bring it on and the world. Even though it wouldn't be around Austin (as we NEED something here), I would go every chance I'd get.
make it big and make it fast ![]()

Box Foxes Rule!!!
|
Lets see, current tracks are TWS 3 hours,MSR Cresson 4.5 hours,MSR Houston 3 hours,Sealy in 2 years 2.5 hours,Miracle north of Houston in 3 years 3.5 hours.Mineral Wells in 3 years(maybe)4.5 hours.
IH 10 doesnt go to Bandera,Texas 16 does. I am a current SCCA and NASA license holder for racing and support staff(course marshall, paddock, grid, timing and scoring) and would welcome this but the fact is people dont want the noise around "them" but its ok to put it somewhere else. There is an old horse racing facility just outside of the city of Bandera that is just begging for this but I am willing to bet it wont happen.
