Optima Red-Top Battery

Well after 5 years and 62k miles... my original Motorcraft Battery left me stranded for the first time. I'd say I milked it for all it was worth. The freakin' negative terminal was loose all the way down into the battery.

So I decided to replace it with an Optima Red-Top Battery, and despite it's relatively higher price, I consider it a very good investment.

My Mustang starts up effortlessly now... almost seems to start up even smoother than the day I bought the car!

Anybody else have similar experiences with Optima batteries?

I hear you can actually leave your headlights on all day and it will still start up... and that you can park the car for a whole year, and it will still crank over. is that true???

I just put mine in Sunday. I got it due to its ability to never loose its charge capacity memory unlike other batteries that once you drain them dead they will never hold a full charge again. Also I have the one with the side post along with the top post for additional wires like my amp. Now I gotta find an Optima blue top and I will have the ultimate battery.

Yellow is best, had two im my Jeep, its for stuff like winches and alot of electronics, blue is for marine or boats although they work great in vehicles, red is more common and is rated the lowest of the three although its more than most people will ever need. I left my lights on for about 15 hours and the Jeep cranked right up. I even turned it off with the ac and 2 12"subs on and everything started up fine, although i did have 2 yellowtops at the time lol.

Yea, that was one of my first planned mods(I guess it's a mod). I bought my Stang at the end of July and the stock battery is in there....I figured I'd rather switch it on my terms rather than have the car tell me it's time for a new battery.

I've had problems in the past with battery post corrosion, with an aftermarket stereo, which lead to a lot of dead starts. I think the dual(top and side) posts would be a help in that area.
