p0340 and why i hate Bankston Ford

i dropped this in 05+ tech since it's kind of related to a TSB for the 05-06 models.

Cliff notes at bottom.

So, here lately my car has been throwing codes p0340 and p0344. Researching it, there is a tsb out on it. Today I tried to schedule service with Bankston (since they are literally just around the corner from me), and I ran into nothing but headaches.
First, the lady tells me they can't guarantee anything, and that the may have to order parts. I ask for someone higher than her who can help me out more than what she is obviously limited to.

After explaining the issue to someone else (god I wish I could remember his name), he tells me that just in case it is the tsb, they do have an alternator in stock. I press the issue that the reason I am trying to verify and get as much done before hand is that this is my only vehicle, and I’m barely a month over at a new job. Missing work or taking off early/coming in late would not look good on me as a new employee.

After we get past all of that, we go back to the alternator. He says he's not sure if it would work for my car due to the build date specifics, and would need my VIN number. Having my insurance card in my back pocket with my VIN on it, I tell him that I can provide him with that. He said he's not in parts look-up and couldn't verify it using my VIN. I ask him to get someone who can verify it. I guess that pushed him beyond what he could handle, so he hangs up on me. He couldn't even hit the phone on the hook right, he had to slam it again.

So, I call back, pissed, and ask for the manager of the service department. I end up talking to someone named Allan pierce. After explaining how upset I am, he doesn't attempt to apologize or recognize the issue of me being disconnected. Instead, he takes the stance of defending his reps, saying none of them are anywhere near a phone. No shit, they just disconnected. What are they going to do, wait around the phone in case I call back???? Once we've taken care of the scheduling issue (which wasn't even an issue), I revert back to asking him if there is someone above him I can speak to about the poor attitude/performance of the service rep, since he appears to not really care about it. He says there is no one to talk to. I ask him if there is a Ford corporate number/office I can contact. He says yes, but they just push the issue back to him. I said that's fine, as long as someone above you knows of your rep's performance, and of his manager’s uncaring attitude and claims of the customer being wrong.

This is where it got interesting. . . . .He basically tells me that I should take my car somewhere else because it already seems I plan on giving him a bad review. I said no, I’m going to take it to your place, and see how much you really do care about your customers. At this point, he says if that's the case, I really need to adjust my concerns, since he can make my customer service experience either great, or a living hell (exact words). At that point, I told him I’m going to bring it there, and hope he can make it great, and maybe adjust my views on what his rep did. If not, and I feel he's made no attempt at resolving anything, I’ll be sure to give him whatever bad info I can on a survey, submit whatever information I can to ford, and also the BBB.

After sitting here at work for a few hours, i've changed my mind. North Central Ford is closer to where i work. So, i gave them a call, got it set up for drop off tomorrow. In the mean time, it looks like i need to post up my Bankston experience and contact Ford Corporate, and the BBB.

Cliff notes:
Attempt to schedule car for service. Service rep hangs up on me. Manager defends service rep and tells me he can make my experience hell. Tells me to go some other place. I tell him no, I’m bringing it there, and you make it right, or prepare for the wrath of horrible feed back. Then, on second thought, I've decided to bring it to North Central Ford, and just blast Bankston on some forums, and to Ford Corporate.

being at a dealer, i have to say first that was a pretty shitty way for you to be treated. and second, best of luck. everything goes back to the svc manager and all he has to say is that you were disrespectful and overreacting. i'm not saying nothing will happen, but good luck getting anything you think should happen to actually happen. in the svc business, the customer is always right until a member of management decides you are wrong. then you get nowhere.

i had a couple of service issue with a dealership here in sa, gillespe ford aka Ford Mccombs West with Gillespe ford peole still working there. I got stuff done by writing a letter to the owner of the dealership (whos ever name is on the dealerhip name, In my case it was gillespe and in yours it would be Bankston) and by filling out the survey online. I received phone calls back from both of those departments with in two weeks.

Fuck Bankston.

I bought my '05 F150 Lariat from them. The truck had problem swith rough idle and stalling (while at highway speeds) for over a year. On a new, well maintained truck. Stalling on the highway might be considered a safety issue (not to Bankston).

I got a letter from Ford stating that some 05 F150 trucks had a problem with the fuel injection system that caused rough idle and stalling, with a CEL light coming on sometimes. Hmmm...sounds familiar.

Took it to Bankston and they couldn't find a problem. They weren't interested in the letter from Ford since they couldn't get a trouble code from the truck.

Died on the highway again so I called Bankston to take it in and they said no way to look at it for a few days. CEL was on so I went to a mom & pop shop but they couldn't read the code and told me to take it to a Ford dealer. Took it to Bankston (again) and the CEL had gone off by then so they told me there was nothing they could find wrong with it, but they waited to tell me that after I rented a car to drive for the day. They had already called me at work and left a message by the time I got to work, so I didn't need to rent a car. Bankston said no to replacing fuel injection parts since they couldn't get a code from the truck.

I call Pat at Ford customer service and raise hell about getting my truck fixed. She says she will work with the dealer to get my problem taken care of, and tells me to take it in right away if it does again.

Rolled over the 50K mile mark.

Died on the highway again ( a few K over the 50K warranty) so I drove it to Bankston directly, left it running in the driveway, and insisted that a tech come out and look at it since the CEL was on and it was still running. They took the car in and said they would call me with a diagnosis. I rented another car and went to work. Bankston called me at work and said it was the throttle body and that my truck was out of warranty.

I had them fix it and called Ford to ask about Ford covering the repair under warranty since I had the truck in so many times for the same problem and that the dealer couldn't identify the problem until just after the 50K miles.

Now get this part ... Ford says that Bankston told me that I could have up to $1500 towards repairs but that I declined their offer and chose to pay out of my pocket. Bankston never offered any such thing and refused to refund my credit card and pay for the repair (which was less than $1500). Ford said it's between me and Bankston at this point.

So 5 weeks ago I went into Bankston and sat down with a salesperson to talk about a 2008 GT. Gave him my credit report (scores over 720, no bad credit) and said I'm ready to do it, except not at Bankston. Drove to Rodeo Ford and bought a loaded 2008 GT, took it back to Bankston to show the general manager how their service department cost them a sale. He didn't seem to care any more than the rest of the dealership people did. Filed a dispute with my credit card company so Bankston won't get paid for the repair.

Fuck Bankston.

My wife needs a new vehicle and I'm thinking about a loaded Expedition. Guess where I won't be buying it?

Fuck Bankston.
