Painted calipers

I've got some leftover color matched paint, and I was wondering how hard it would be to paint my calipers...how much prep work will I need to do? Is there any special primer I'd need to use? How much of an issue will heat be with automotive paint?

the heat is a HUGE issue, if its cant withstand the heat then it will come off obviously...

prep work-need to clean the hell out of them before spraying bighoss88lx did a badass job on mine they still look new except for a few spots tha chipped due to me taking the wheels on/off.

i used DHT paint i believe i got it at autozone...good stuff, just do it the right way the first time so you dont regret it...

If the paint you have is designed for the exterior of the car it wont hold up to the high heat of the brake calipers. Im sure you can get some special paint mixed just for your calipers that will match your car or they can be powdercoated to match also.

I would go w/ powdercoating, but the other guys are right the heat will ruin normal paint. Don't know about the other guys (I'm sure they do) but O'Reillys carries a paint specifically for painting calipers. Engine paint or header spray paint may work................

Get on Ebay and look for G2 caliper paint. It's a 2 part that you mix and brush on. It will hold up to the heat and all solvents while keeping the shine. I put 2 coats on mine and there was no way it was going to chip. I put some on the calipers on my last car and they looked perfect over a year after i originally put it on.
