Painting my HORSE?!?!?
i would like to paint my front horse on the grill black to go with the theme of the car...

any recommendations on what paint to paint the horse or should i just use black spray paint or something??

please help as i would like to do this soon

I actually just painted the horse in my stock Bullitt grille DHG to match the car. It's the same grille you have, only the chrome ring around the horse is flat black.

If I was lazy, I would just tape off the entire grille, save for the horse..and spray it a lot.

What I did was remove as many of the little things that hold it to the honeycomb piece. A couple of them, I had to break off. This step is a huge PITA.

I scuffed the horse with sandpaper (helps paint stick), then used black primer on a couple coats. With fine gritt sand paper, I held the horse under running water in the sink and "wet sanded" it until it was smooth and a little shiney. Sprayed one more coat of black...let it dry. I wet sanded it again with an even more fine sandpaper, cleaned it, then dried it off and put the first coat of DHG on it. I sanded it, repainted, then sanded again, then one more coat of paint. Let it dry, then applied 3 or 4 coats of clear.
That was that.

You can get the paint at an auto parts store like Advance.


Oh yea, you'll probably end up gluing it back in the grille. I know I'll have to...I don't think those things were meant to come out....unless I just got really frustrated and lost my temper.

I can do it in a day or so. Then I'd let it sit so it can "cure"..then re-install.
Are you okay with driving without a grille for a few days?
You can give it to me at Fudd's.. and I can bring it back to the following weeks meet?

it has the delete kit. so theres no honeycomb on it.. all i would have to do is unscrew the horse off
