Well it ran alright when we came and drove it, i knew it wasnt in the best condition when we got it. It ran a whole lot better than that when i sold it to the kid, it was my daily driver with no problems.

Were not exactly sure whats happened to it, one day he started her up and pulled out onto th street and it went to shit. Hard knocking and crap like that. But we havent had time to tear her down yet so we dont kno whats gonna happen. But one things for sure, its gonna go much faster lol.

Could switching between synthetic and regular oil screw the engine up?

well if a motor and all its seals are used to synthetic then its good to keep using it and likewise for regular oil. If it is used to regular oil and you start using synthetic it will create a ton of leaks and blow bye and the oil seems to find its way out of the car before you know it there isn't any oil in it and boom there she goes.

Ah i see, when i sold the car to him, that motor only had about 75-80k miles on it. I had swapped from regular oil to synthetic at about 50k. Then all the leaks came and i replaced all the gaskets and everything was kosher. So i was just wondering if he did an oil change and put regular oil back in it, and could that have caused any engine troubles? Also, i think most of the wear and tear came from him not knowing how to drive the car. Cause the tranny is kind of funny too, and it was a good good to go when he got it. I also put a new king cobra clutch and pressure plate and had the fly wheel resurfaced 5 months befor selling it to him.

well all I know is the kid hardly ever drove it. But no switching back to regular oil will not cause leaks it the other way around. He only put like 1000-1500 miles on it in the 6-7 months he had it. I know he couldn't drive a clutch the greatest so the new one he got is a auto.

When you say "seals" you mean valve seals/guides right? Just wondering because my car is getting blow bye and the motor only has about 25k after the rebuild. I was planning on replacing the guides and gaskets to see if it fixed it.

yes valve seals and guides and every other seal in and on the motor that oil has contact with. cork or rubber.
