So what are the plans on the track surface? I would assume that they want it to hook as best possible. I have talked to multiple people about the track, some think that it will be very good, others think with the large variation of cars the surface won't be that good, basicaly some people think it will be like a midnight madness.

Good possibility of rains on Saturday now... how long and when not sure. I don't trust the weather forecasters anymore.

I'll prep it just like for a ihra pro am,to hold 6 sec cars. What screws up the surface at madness is cars spitting exhaust water, and radial street tires ripping up the compound off the surface.Vast majority of the cars in POA will be on slicks which will keep rubber and adhesion on the track and during the event we'll tune the surface as needed. There will be times during the day when the track will start out tight and then mid afternoon when temps go up,like this past weekend,if the sun is bright and outside temp is in the mid to hi 80's that the track surface will reach 110-120 and loosen up a little. Then it will cool back down around 5pm and tighten back up.Good friend of mine made a pass last Sat around 5:30pm in his T/S car and he laid down a 6.93 in the right lane at near 200mph.Quickest pass he's ever made in his car.Beat his hi 6.9 at Pine Valley in Lufkin last year and I prepped that track also and he said the air was better at Lufkin than at SAR.So the track will be good. One thing I've learned traveling around to other tracks working races, prepping tracks in tx and other states, theres more racers that "dont" know how to read a track than "do".There's times during the day you can throw the hp at it and then there's times you have to back it off a little to run quick.

So does anyone have any idea of what percentage of cars show up with street radials for the Pinks events? You talk about street radial cars removing the compound off of the track. I still remember the first time I ever went to a track. It was HRP about 19 years ago right after the Super Nationals. I ran like four runs, the car spun very hard every run. I was getting pissed that my car that I thought should run 13s, was only running 16s and 17s. On about the third run I noticed the starter giving me dirty looks while I was creeping along spinning the tires very hard, I did not know why he was pissed at me. When I got about 20 to 30 feet from the line I was looking in my rear view mirror woundering why the starter was giving the dirty looks and I saw that my rear tires were making trenchs about 1/4 to 3/8 in deep in the rubber on the line. At first I could not understand how my car was digging trenches in the track. Later someone found me and pointed out that I was making trenchs in the rubber on the starting line and that I was pissing off a bunch of people, so I was very unpoppular with the regular racers that day. So I ran one last pass and basicaly idled the car of off the starting line and the car went a 14.90.

So who won? The 69 Camaro or the Nova? Left early to beat the herding of the people trying to leave.

I must have went at the right time. I got there a little after 4 on Saturday. Got good parking and made it right before the big race. I was hoping Clay would win. It was a lucky break he got that far. He was an alternate! And a 69 Camero orange with white stripes is one of my dream cars!!!!!
