please explain...

is an o/r h and/or a o/r x legal or not? I went to a muffler shop and the guy told me he doesn't do o/r h because they are illegal....thanks for the info

They are illegal but none of us really care. I dont think any one here that has one or the other has ever had a legal issue.



****EDIT Well not street legal, they are off road legal. Just like Graves under body neon light kit.

Off road x or h pipes remove the catalytic converters, therefore the emission equipment has been tapered with, making the system illegal.
Texas only checks for the items during official annual inspections. Some states, California, can check your vehicle and fine you at a traffic stop. I have read that they have "Sniffers" to check your vehicle as it drives by, but I don't know how much they are used though.

Anything without cats on it is illegal . Infact you are not suppose to even mess with the factory cats before 50K miles unless you can prove they have failed prematurely . Even at that , they want factory OEM cats put back on the car .

Why don't you change em yourself? That's what I did. I used to have an Off Road H and currently have an Off Road X on my car. Never had any legal issues.

actualy as was said by the source

technically NO after market cat is street legal untill after 50 k miles its federal law that you not remove them or tamper with them in any way unless they fail.

yup. you can fail an inspection for putting "high flow cats" on your car under 50k
sucks but true. even though you still have cats.
