    Project 4.2L M112 v6 :Updated with pics!

Well i'm gonna start a motor build to do on the weekends and as money allows, so it's going to take some time. I'm hoping to prove you can be powerful and reliable. My engile will be built from scrach, from the block up to the M112 supercharger on top. Hoping to get it done and dropped in my car within a year and 1/2.

    It will consist of:
    3.8L block, honed and balanced
    4.2L crank
    Fordged pitions and rods.
Ported heads(not sure on what heads yet)
    Ported intakes
    M112 supercharger kit(found on 03 cobra's)
    water/meth

I am doing this build as money allows, so it will take a while. Once it's done, i'm hoping to be arround 400-450rwhp in a daily driver. I will post pics as often as i get things done. First things first, I need an engine stand...

    Edit:
Made a parts list. Here it goes.

    X 2002 3.8L v6 block
    X .030" bore
    X 4.2L crank (4.3L with the bore)
    X Scat forged 351/408W H-beam rods
    X ARP rob bolts
    X Wiseco forged 8.7:1 pistions
    X rings and pins
    X Stage 3 ported heads (260cfm intake/170 cfm exhaust)
    1.94/1.56 Stainless Steel valves
CompCams 26981 valve springs(but thinking about getting stronger beehive springs)
    1.7 ratio adjustable roller rockers
    Hardened pushrods
    2118/224 cam
X SFI approved harmonic balancer and aluminum flywheel
    Stage 2 clutch
    X Ported lower intake
    Eaton M112 blower
    310lph fuel pump
    42# injectors

This is going to be one sick v6 once it's done. Cobra and bolt-on GT's beware.

SSM(super six motorsports) has released an adapter plate for the upper intake of 99-04 v6's. There is a kit that mysteed on 3.8mustang.com is going to produce for a decent price, complete with everything you will need to bolt up to a stock motor.

On a side note, i got my engine stand and will be picking up an engine this weekend.

I wonder If I could convince my neighbor to do this to his v6. I know he just had a built motor put in, but I don't know if the shop put forged pistons and rods on top of it.

Pulled the pistons tonight, walls look perfect. More pics!
Now i need to get the crank pully off and all the timing components inside. Sorry if i'm posting a lot of pics, but i am hoping that this thread will help someone decide if they want to attempt an engine build or not.

I just found a killer deal on an 99+ Style 8.8 Ford Axle Setup including: Moser 31 Spline Hardened Axles, FMS 3.73 Gears, Eaton Truetrac Diff, FMS Rear Cover with Braces, Welded Axle Tubes, All new seals and bearings. 1000 miles of use. Since i needed these after i get done with the motor i went ahead and picked them up, plus you can't beat free labor. He wants a stock 7.5, so we're gonna swap them out on each other's car.

with your projected power i'd be kinda scared to crack the block. not many v6s put out tha tmuch and the few that do (i konw of a turbo'd one that puts out 600+ on race gas) i wouldn't trust with longevity. i'm sure you've done your homework i'm just going to put in my .02 because it'd be a shame to get this completed and crack your block with too much power and a less than perfect tune.

that built rear looks like it is exactly matched for your probable output IMO... nice going.

i don't know if 42#ers will be enough for your projected output, but the pump should be fine. i have a formula from ford when i get back to cali i can plug your info in and get what size fuel items you need if you want.

have you started mocking the motor up and seeing if that adapter plate/intake/blower all play well together?

and what are you going to do about tranny, i haven't seen anything mentioned? even a HD t5 will def. not last with that kind of power. the only "low cost" option i see is a tko 500 or similar and somehow getting a slightly used one on the cheap.

good luck with the work, it seems like a fun plan.

Seeing as how no one has ever cracked a 3.8 block because of the power makes me feel warm and tingly inside. I'm looking to push arround 11 psi witch should net me a little over 400hp, i think i can live with that. I think the 42's should be enough, but plug it in and let me know what to says

There have been other v6's on other v6 forums that have done this build and have no problems. I have pretty much gutted their brains with questions.

As for the tranny, that will be my last upgrade before i work on body and paint. I was leaning towards a C4, but i haven't really looked into it much.

I made a list of what i want to do to my car before i'm done with it and it looks like this:

    -full exhaust
    -Built 4.3L
    -boost
    -built rear end
    -tranny
    -body and paint

I'm happy to mark 2 things off that list.

alright, i'll try to remember to. it'll be a couple weeks. i thought people have cracked a few 3.8's from power? i know the supercoupe blocks are stronger, as are some of the later 4.2 blocks (more webbing in the valley, if memory serves). good to know though, and good luck.

who is porting your head? I did not read the intire thread. I will after I make this post.

I would honestly mess with the stock v6 t5 until it goes eventually.

May I suggest Harold @ port pros for your head porting. I have seen some serious numbers out of his stuff and the heads he has done for us. And you dont have the BS run-around waiting time that many of the SA porters will give you.

he did a set of of lt1 heads for us that outdid AFRs. I have seen strong numbers and port design on all of his 4.6 stuff as well.
