yeah Brian is excited to see any differences between the mac and stainless long tubes on the kit. from what i have heard the longtubes make good amount of difference when coupled with a supercharger. so maybe thats why i got 345 rwhp i would say you might get 355 with the 3core or possibly 360 Brian did a great job. when i launch from a slow roll like once i get stright and smash the pedal the car flies and peals out for at leasta couple of seconds

WAY COOL!!!! Good to see a 'similar' setup, although I'm using a vortech instead of procharger, pushing 11-12 psi. When you get your hands back on her, you'll love it!!!

I'm running 3.73's w/a tloc also, and actually am more concerned about the 7.5 rear holding up more than the engine; be especially wary if using slicks at the track, from what a lot of similar people have experienced with 4.0Ls like ours.

yeah using those g-Force T/A Drag Radial from BF goodrich i have heard of tons of people destroying even 8.8s with enough torque. i know a vortech guy in a 4.0 that destroyed his gears and pretty much anything in the diff with those tires

drag radials are a lot rougher on a rear end than slicks.... if you're gonna break it, it would happen sooner with dr's.. the reason being that slicks are softer so when the car hooks, it's not as violent of a blow on the axles... the s197 rear ends aren't the best anyway... i've done 3 axles on them this week....

I heard the complete opposite also...Since with slicks you'll hook completely and dr's you'll still be able to spin.....right??

haha... you gotta be patient if you want it done right.

I think of it this way... I have NEVER owned a car with more than 200 rwhp... so a couple months is well worth the wait for a ~380 rwhp beast!

But anyways... I got an email from Brian the other day thanking me for my continued patience, and that he has finally received all of the exhaust components from Stainless Works. He said that he will email me some pictures and videos of the install process as soon as they are available.

So... with that being said, I believe I should have the car back within a couple weeks. Mostly depending on when he can make it down to SA to deliever it.

oh yea something to add to the ture convo for ya. get some damn good tires and be glad you are getting a tlok . i never realized ive been peeling out like crazy. i guess bc of my radio i dont hear myself and today the weather was nice enough to have my windows down and whoa even from a roll when i smash the gas down all of a sudden i spin the tires like crazy i have to ease of the gas to get the peel out to stop

Yeah a tloc will help solve that...to a large extent. With a tloc and larger tires, I still spin sometimes, but not nearly as bad as with the stock differential, where one tire would just spin and spin.

    Any updates, Jeff?

It all depends how well you hook with the drag radials. If you truly dead hook with the drag radials, you could stand to shock the rear end a little worse. However, a true hook on a drag radial isn't going to happen unless you have a good suspension setup and weight transfer.

yeah i just talked to him via E-mail about some stuff. He called the other night too, but it was really late, poor guy works over 12 hour days usually, a good problem to have I guess. My car would have been done by now, but I just can't seem to quit ordering stuff for it! I think I'm done now tho, I know he was trying to deliver together, but next time I talk with him I'll see how we're looking. If yours is done sooner than mine I may just have to go down there and buy a car hauler to bring mine back myself..

dude, they have had the car a freaking long time.
I'm assuming that you are getting a nice discount causing the pace to be slow.

Well, there are several factors causing the pace to be slow.

    1. I am getting a good deal on all the parts and labor.

    2. Even with the good deal, It is still going to cost me out the ass because I am getting so much stuff done at once, so I told him to take his time so I can make sure I have the money when it's done.

    3. I have my heart set on a great exhaust set up. I want stainless steel longtube headers and stainless steel exhaust to go with it. Problem with that is... nobody had made stainless steel longtube headers for the 4.0 yet. StainlessWorks is making them now, and they are using my car... at THR... to make them. Evidently they have had some fit and finish issues with the Longtubes matting up with the x-pipe. So that is what we are waiting on right now.

Don't worry he's had mine for a year now because I keep adding parts to it. Might as well do it right is what I always say!

Why stainless steel? Have you thought about the muffler/exhaust? The 4.0L is so quiet compared to the 3.8L

I am having StainlessWorks do the entire exhaust. Longtubes, x-pipe, axle back. Dual exhaust of course.

I am not really worried about it sounding loud. I would rather it sound quiet than loud and raspy. The P1SC will produce enough noise alone.

Couldn't you have done the D1 upgrade for 300? You don't want raspy but your doing an X pipe

The P1 will be more than enough for what I want. This isn't my daily driver, and I'm not trying to build an all out race car. Just something to have fun in on a nice sunny day. I believe 350-380rwhp should do just the trick.

raspy totally depends on mufflers and cats.
i have an x-pipe and my car is pretty darn quiet.

Jeff, on the custom headers, what is making it a difficult job? I haven't seen teh under carriage of the newer v6's and i'm not sure if there is a lot of crap to plumb around.

I've never heard an even fire v6 that wasn't raspy with an x pipe.

    Update:

They will be receiving another x-pipe from StainlessWorks tomorrow. This will be the third x-pipe they have tried to get the fit perfect. Keep in mind, this is a one-off exhaust set-up right now, but after they get mine done StainlessWorks will be putting their 4.0 Longtube exhaust set-up on the market.

Brian said that as long as the x-pipe fits tomorrow... they will finish the exhaust, dyno and tune it again, then install the supercharger and gears... then finish with a final dyno tune.
