Question question about front wheel cylinders?

Does anyone know if the front wheel cylinders for a 65-66 are different from side to side and if they can be installed on the wrong sides??

I may be wrong but I believe there is a left and right. If the connection for the brake line is at a 45 degree angle they are side specific.

They are only because of the location the line enters.
The line connection is at a 45 degree angle towards the rear of the vehicle.

They could be installed on the wrong side, but the brake hose will be short.

This is the truth 12sec5.0 speaks
they are specific to side. they even have different part #'s as well.

yes that is true I was just double checking. And visually verified on my car today that both lines are facing the rear with the bleed screws facing forward.

I think I found my problem or part of it anyway. The mastercylinder is a reman and has a bleed screw under the cylinder bore and is leaking fluid around it. I have a new mastercylinder waiting to go into the car and plan to replace the rear brake line coming off the hardline to the axle and then everything will be new.

My suggestion would be to convert to a dual reservoir master cylinder. It bolts right up.Just need to install a combination valve and some brake lines.

dual reservoir with manual brakes, booster will not fit unless you use a single res.

Right now I'm just trying to fix what I got, then later on I want to do a full disc brake swap and have discs on all 4. For now I'm just wanting to get the car driveable, then maybe the wife will be more intersted in spending money on the car. Right now she could care less cause the car is just sitting.

Since everyone is saying power brakes, is there a power disc brake conversion reccommended for me to add to the current "wish List" , I'm hoping once I can get the car running the wife will be more interested in the car.

Well I finally had some time to tear into the car today. Was going to try and swap out my master cylinder and went to install the bleed tube and noticed the first two threads was flattened where the line would thread in. So I took it back to the parts store and re-ordered a new one. After that I saw some fluid on the deck of my trailer under the trans; crawled under the car to check it out and discovered a hole in my brake line going to the rear axle. Looks like I'm going to have to swap out the hard line after all.

I just can't catch any kinda break on this car with getting it running!

I got my new master cylinder in today, maybe if it's nice this afternoon I'll get it installed. Then I'll have to see what I can do to fix the hardline running to the rear axle so that maybe I can finally get my brakes to work.

cheap disc brakes

You can use the front spindles off a Granada. all attaching points are the same and these parts are dirt cheap . Granada had disc brakes and these cars can still be found at wrecking yards.
