radio issues!!
Hi folks, gotta a question i hope someone can answer. Friday took out the factory radio and went to Best Buy and bought an Alpine CDE9784, brought it home, put in harness from Best Buy, installed radio, no sound. Returned radio next day, got another one (same modle). Still no sound, cant be harness, its idiot proof, cant be radio again. Anyone have a clue? Best Buy said to bring in car so they can charge me 50 bucks to figure it out. I got tired of playing with it, HELP!

ur probably not splicing the power and ground wires correctly, or u have the wrong harness for ur ride. Make sure u connect the 12volt(should be a yellow wire) to the corresponding yellow wire on both harnesses(HUs and Adapter harness for ur vehicle). Make sure that u are also connecting the proper ground wire. I know it sounds simple enought but sometimes, its the smallest thing.

What year are we talking about?
If it is the 89 you probably have a premium sound system with amps under the dash, need to bypass.....takes all of 5 min. I will see if i can find a write-up

i will see what i can find......all you need to do is take the connection off the amp on the passenger side behind the deck and plug it to the harness

I had this problem when installing a stereo for a buddy in his tiburon and it was simply me not connecting the power wire for the amp to the wire on the harness. Once connected we had sound! This is typically a blue or blue/white stripe wire. Since your speakers are already connected to the amp (assuming stock), you just need to give the amp the signal to turn on just like the factory stereo did before you removed it. Just curious but did this harness from best buy have a connector on each end, or one connector on one end and loose wires on the other? If the second is what you have... check that blue wire.
Not having sound definitely seems like an amp issue as already stated, so if the wire isn't the problem I guess you have to bypass it. I'm unfamiliar with that model car, but I hope you get it figured out. I've installed plenty of stereos and systems and the smallest simplest things can really piss you off. I'm sure there's a write up somewhere online if these guys can't find it, try doing a search and good luck!

Ok gents, got mad, drove to Best Buy, got pulled over cuz I was going 5 mph over and got a warning (thank God), any ways, the guy told me at Best Buy the harness was not the proper one for the car cuz of the silly factory amp and that there is not a harness for the amp. All he did was by pass the amp and charged me 59 bucks + change, crap I could have done that for free. If anyone needs the info I will take pics and explane in detail which wires go go where and such. It seems easy but confusing, Oh well, no more singing for me! LOL! Thanks for all your help guys!

Oh ya, the harness I have has 4 female plugs, 2 big ones go to the factory harness that pluged into the radio. The other smaller female plug by passes the factory amp and the other small plug was supossed to go to the factory speaker harness that goes in the in put of the amp (didnt fit) and this was supossed to by-pass it
