Rear Gear Oil Changing..?

I've heard before that i should change my differential oil at 48,000 miles, but it says nothing of this in my owners maintenance guide....the schedule says that unless the axle has been submerged, i don't need to change the oil. what gives? i'm gonna do the spark plugs and engine oil tomorrow and WAS gonna do the diff.

Im not really sure when its supposed to be serviced but if i were you id do it. Make sure u use 75w-140 with a bottle of friction modifier.

2 1/4 quarts will fill it too, but you need 3 bottles + the modifier.

I change them at 50k mile intervals.

keep your experience off the intrawebz and in your left hand.....

lmao

75W140 is a synthetic gear oil, it holds up longer then the regular weights. Plus, I'd venture to say the the trucks you speak of are fleet accounts, which see abuse more often, so shorter intervals are required for services.
