I want to do the same.
I hear that 4.10's really liven it up.
Then a magazine says 3.73's will keep you mileage reasonable.
I have an automatic trans, so which one?

For streetability, 4.10's at the most for auto trannys, 4:30's for manuals. Also keep in mind that adding a power adder will affect that as well.

I'm running 3.90's because I have a 3000 stall torque converter and I plan on adding a s/c this year.

just my .02

1998 GT. Installed 4:10's. Gas mileage considerably down. Lots of fun and very responsive. Would have gone with 3.73's but alot of techs say 4:10 was best for year/model

The 07 I just bought had 3.31's in it . As soon as a programmer is out for the car , I will be installing 3.73's and a girdle in the back .

I went with 3.73's. Also automatic here....

I almost went 4.10's but I've been reading about some issues with the 4.10's that didn't make too comfy with the idea.

I hear the upgraded stall also makes a huge difference.

Right now I am seeing a slight decrease in mileage, about 22 mpg is my higway average right now vs the 24 it was at when stock. Thanks to the SLPs the car is also a bit louder on the highway, 75 mph translates to about 2500 rpms, which is hummin' a bit, but not terrible. Besides, the Shaker 1000 takes cars of that with relative ease, hehe....

One thing is for sure, gears do make a difference.....I plan on seeing just how much tomorrow at the track....

we have predators in stock for the 07 mustang.

and we can do gears and a girdle however the rear panhard requires a relocation bracket to use most girdles.

I have the stock or option 3.55's in my 06. had 3.73s in my 2k and I like the 3.55s better.

I am considering going with 4.10's but with a blower in mind (Kenne Bell) I am not sure i'll even waste the time and money. Going from factory 3.55's to 3.90's, doesn't seem like it'll make a big difference.

Currently I am crossing the traps in the top of 3rd. With 4.10's I would be at or near the top of 4th. A blower would cause me to exhaust my RPM when I cross the traps. perhaps.

Has anyone done a 3.55 - 3.90 swap have anything good to say?

I'd run 3.90's if FRPP made them. If you want to go with a kenne bell I'd get a set of 3.73 and you should still be crossing the line in 3rd with the correct tire size.

not a chance in hell he will cross in third with a KB and a set of 3.73 the car should easily tap 117 + with a KB blower.

I had 4:10's before the Vortech, went with 3:55's when the Vortech went in and I like them much better! 150 extra RWHP helped of course, but I would still go with 3:55's N/A....great gear and you won't get spanked on the highway.....trust me, you will run out of gear on the highway with 4:10's!!!!
