Rear speakers

How important are the rear speakers in a car? I am finally getting a new system put in today and they informed me that since I don't have either of the rear speaker covers, that they wouldnt be able to put in any rear speakers. I will have all the other speakers as well as an amp and sub. Will it still sound good?

Edit: and no one will ever be sitting in the back, if that matters.

personally, i dont think they're that important at all... most of my hard core "system" friends dont run rears.. a NICE set of components in the front and a good sub set up is all you need imo

it depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. if it's just boom, skip the rear speakers. if you want a quality sounding system, rear speakers are a must. it will fill in the mid-range, as well as have a fuller range of soudn coming from all directions.

If you have just the fronts and only subs in the rear:
-running low- to -medium volume: you will (obviously) only hear the highs and a litlle bit of mids from the front, then almost no sound (excpet just a little bass) from the rear - well out of balance.
-running high volume is the only time that it won't matter as much. fronts will get drowned out way too early.

i kept my rears. and im still runing 1000w off 2 12"kick comp CVR's.
systems are nice and all but get really "annoying" after a while.
so when you dont wanna hear the hard bass you tone it down a bit and thats when my 5x7's Rockford fosgate's come in to play.

Got the car back last night from the shop, the system sounds really good to me so far! I also finally found some rear speaker covers last night and ordered them. So hopefully they will work out and I'll be able to get some speakers in the back sometime soon.

I personally like having rear fill but purests/audiophiles believe its best to just have the front stage and a sub. Something about time alignment and blah blah blah.

Its all preference.

it all depends on what kinda system your runnying how much juice, and the space your working w/. just depends on all kinds of things that make up a great sound.
i would just recommend trying diffrent techniques and seeing which one works out for ya the best
