Mine finally showed up .... and it was the lower, $900. Oh well, it will hold me while I wait for my first paycheck from my new job ...

Timing is a wonderful thing; when it works out to my advantage!

Is there any way to know what you tax liability is? Is it a set amount? Or is that their fancy way of saying how much you paid in taxes?

Either one kid wasnt a dep. or she only qualified for the 300 per adult because she had no tax liability....that is I think what is going to happen to Jeff and I....we didn't pay in, we got back more than what we paid actually...so we will see.

I still haven't got mine yet, which it was due today. I just read this though on the irs.gov site. If filing or preparation fees were deducted from your 2007 Refund or you received a rapid refund, you will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit. Please see the Paper Check section of the Payment Schedule. I used turbotax, and had the fees deducted from my rebate. This is the only explanation I could find. I even submitted my SS#, and it said it hasn't gathered my amount owed to me yet.

^hmmmmmmmmmm thats interesting. I used some tax thing online but paid the $10 fee with my own bank account, I had to wait about 2 week to get my direct deposit, do you think that will effect me getting a direct deposit vs. a check?

I think it only counts if you used your refund to pay the fee for the service, or if you used a tax service and got a refund anticipation loan...then you will get a check too. I used a free service through my bank so mine should come through DD.

I used H&R Block online, but I didn't have the fees deducted... I just payed it from my bank account. I got my return on time, but my rebate still hasn't shown up.

remebmer it can depend on your bank also. If the deadline was friday and you havent received it yet doesnt mean the IRS didnt send it Friday. Most ACH transfers have to go through the Federal Reserve and depending on the type of ACH receptor your Bank has it can take 2-3 business days sometimes for it to be applied to your account. Most of the time Direct Deposits are send out 2-3 days before they are set to be applied. You will also have to account for the weekend now.
