removing or diverting air from fan?

the shroud that covers the back of the fan is directing half of the air down and the other half up, with little to the sides.

can i remove the 'safety' shroud on the back? without it, it'd aim it mostly at the motor and up and over the intakes. i was thinking about maybe whacking off the bottom portion at least because of the fact it just puts air to the ground.

I wouldnt the shroud is designed to help the fan pull air thru the radiator its not to blow air across the motor. Taking it off or cutting it will actually make the car run hotter not cooler. Especially on a v6 car since the fan is farther from the rad to begin with.

I still dont think removing them will help. Its still there to pull air across the rad.
As for the other part I was confusing the older eng driven fan vs the elec fans now. That is what I meant by farther away IE shorter motor further from rad.
