removing the mufflers

Just thinking about removing the mufflers on my 07 GT to see how it will sound with out them, will this cause any problems or give me a CEL?

Is it possible to just remove the mufflers from the axle back, then just leave it like that for a few days or will that harm something?
sounds good or not?
will I loose allot of hp and torque or not really?

I did it to my 06 about 20 hours after i had it in my possesion.
I loved how it sounded. . . good and deep, but the pipes that connect the h-pipe to the mufflers have no other support than where they clamp on to the h-pipe. As long as you don't plan on doing too much driving in the next few days, it won't be a problem. When you hit a bump, or a speed bump, the clanking sound you're going to hear is you pipes hitting the axel.

i would unbolt it at the back of the h pipe... trust me, you dont want anything more than like 8 inches of un supported exhaust... caused lots of problems in a vehicle i used to have..

05 up is different David the mufflers connect with very little pipe behind the axle.

Funny that i see this post, i just disconnected mine yesterday at stangalang's apartment. I just took off the mufflers and it was loud as hell, it sounded good at idle but once i was cruising down the road it sound like crap unless i WOT. We put them back on today because i could not handle the noise man it was crazy.

It is a very easy de-install/re-install with minimal hand tools. I do agree that axle back pipes may need to be supported.

As for the sound it produces...to each his own!
