Roadside stationary radar ?

First of all, I know I was speeding, and I take ownership of whatever happens. I was doing around 45 in a 40 off of TPC parkway last week, when I saw the stationary radars that they had mounted on a pole. No biggie right, we've all flown pass them above the speed limit whether it be 1mph over, or 20mph over. As I pulled up to it it start flashing, then a second later, there was strobe like bulbs flashing. My question is, what are the odds that it was a camera, because there wasn't anything on the back of the box to read your rear license plate as you went by in case you didn't have a front plate? Just wondering if I should be expecting a ticket in the mail or something.

ive been hauling ass past them plenty an i never got one in the mail. but keep posted so i know to slow down

also you have due process. The pic would have to show youre likeness other wise it could have been ur wife or the tech doing your brake job etc etc.

I didnt think they had implemented speed cameras anywhere in Texas yet...
They were considering 3 or 4 spots in San Antonio a few years ago

Dont matter.In Austin if you get on and off the toll roads
WITHOUT PAYING AND YOU HAVE NO PREPAY,the owner
of the car gets the ticket.All they have is a pic of the license
plate and the vehicle blowing the toll plaza and you get a ticket.

MANY texas cities have speed cameras.......to include Balcones Heights inside San Antonio, but not SA.

There are cameras on top of traffic lights on Potranco near the high school, just before 151.

From what I have heard the strobes flash when they catch some one passing a red light.

When I was stationed in Germany, I got a ticket for speeding with a similar setup. It was at night on the Autobahn and the flash nearly blinded me. They way they handled it over there was they would send you the ticket. There wouldn't be a picture with the ticket but if you wanted to see the picture because you wanted to contest it, that would also cost you a nominal fee (approximately $15) whether or not it was you behind the wheel. If it was you driving (and trust me, you would know...so there is no faking it) then you also payed the fine. Those cameras took really good photographs that captured the entire front of the car to include the license plate and the driver's face and there is no way to speed to the point that it can't capture your likeness...unless you have a car capable of about 600 mph!

I've seen a couple of those set up near USAA going east on the feeder, same as you stated flashed but didn't recieve anything in the mail.

and it wouldnt matter if you had a front license plate or not...i dont have mine on my truck and i still got a bill from the toll road in austin

There was a case not similiar but the guy used a perm marker to make his 5 to an 8 on his plate and the only way they found him was due to his lack of intelligence and flipped off every speed/red light camera he passed.

That's because as your driving away from the toll booth, they are getting your rear license plate on camera.

I would assume that it can be contested in court. You are innocent until proven guilty. If you're car was stolen and had one of these citations issued, why should you pay a fine you didnt commit?
