I use it in mine, but the engine has less then 3000 miles since I have built it. I use the 5W20 and mine holds 8 quarts....

I plan to change it at about 4k miles and then slowly extend the intervals 1000 miles each oil change.

Holy CRAP! Is Mobil 1 really that bad compared to Royal Purple? I thought they were on the same playing field with RP only slightly outweighing it. If this is true, I'm definitely switching from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple.

I run the Mobil 1 in my pickup and Castrol Full-Synth in the little car ... I've never had an oil related issue in either one.

However, it must be also said that I've never had an oil-related issue with any oil. Even when (as a poor person, running cheap shit no-name non-synthetic) I've run many cars for many years and never had any issue related to lube in the engine. I've had mostly Fords, but a few Chevys ... some in excess of 250K miles on them.

My pick up has been mine for over a decade, and I've put almost 150K miles on it with Mobil 1.
OTOH, Don's Lightning has almost 400K miles on it, and he runs the plain ol' whatever-is-on-sale-at-O'Reilly's 10w40 ...

The true key to longevity in an engine is the regularity with which you change your oil and filter!!!

In my opinion, the big names only come with big prices -- not bigger performance.

For 99.99% of everyone on here what you said holds true.I run the Valvoline durablend in the stang. All my other vehicles use Motorcraft 5w20. Royal Purple is overkill for the majority............

Yeah, but wouldn't you rather have overkilled protection than an overKILLED engine? I know the test they did isn't exactly how the inside of an engine works, but from a protection standpoint, I'd rather have the best I can get. I'm going to try it next change and see if it helps on mileage for sure because I've been wanting to try it, this thread just further convinced me with another reason to try it. I've got almost 75k on the ticker.

im sorry but most cars on this forum DO NOT NEED RP... my car has had reg ol motor oil pumped in it for almost 90k and runs just like new...

i can understand the ppl pushing power adders and some high numbers wanting it.. but for a normal run of the mil bolt on gt... there is no need to pay 7+ a quart for a performance oil like that...

True, but people don't need a lot of things and they still get them anyways. I'm already paying $5-6/quart for Mobil 1, so I wouldn't mind paying an extra buck/quart for much better protection. I've been changing oil at 4-5k, so it's not like I have to change it everyday. Even if I changed at 3k, I still wouldn't mind. You can spend your saved money on mods or whatever, but I'm basically done modding, so I wanna protect what I got. Just my opinion.

I agree that it is overkill, but I say better safe than sorry. And if it was reserved for Lemans or NASCAR... I don't think they'd let out their little secret to the public. Again... just my opinion, not starting any wars here.
