Question rust treatment/removal

What can I use to help prevent the small rust spots on my car from getting any worse until I can get them fixed??

they have rust removers and such in spray form at the parts house, unless you cut it out, thats the only way to stop it, bondoing over it will not stop it but just cover it.

there is a product, most autoparts and even walmart have it. Rust Converter, kinda like navel jelly, but it is supposed to "convert the rust into a black primer" You are supposed to clean off the metal of dirt and loose rust, then paint this stuff on. I have used it, but never really put it to any test.

I do plan on having the rust spots cut out and patched prior to painting, for now I'm looking for the best way to prevent it from spreading or getting worse until I get the car painted. For the most part the car is really clean. It has one small spot on the drivers front fender in front of the door,lh rear lower wheel well panel has some rust, small spot on rh corner of the panel under rear window, nothing terribly bad yet. Since I don't have the tools to paint the car I'll eventually be taking it to someone to paint and don't want to do anything to cause more work than needed for the paint.

Started tearing the rearend apart this afternoon. only thing left holding the rear-end in the car is the e-brake cables that I still have to disconnect, then I'll drop the leaf springs down and start sanding away at the rearend. Discovered that the left rear shock doesn't have any pressure on it at all, you can sqeez it together and let go and it just stays, the right side will extend back out.Quess it's a good thing i'm swapping all them out anyway.
