    San Antonio what to do??

    Me and the family (wife and 2 boys) will be in S.A. this weekend.. Coming thursday and will be staying though sunday.. We plan on hitting sea world and the Alamo.. Anyone know how much the Alamo is to visit? What else is there??

    The Alamo is free I think.. its pretty lame though, dont be expecting anything cool. lol

    theres fiesta texas also for the kids

    while your downtown you can do that boat ride on the riverwalk...again for those of us that live here not very thrilling but you get to see the riverwalk from a different perspective...it is a bit nicer to do at night when everything is lit up and people are partying. The alamo cna be kinda ehh I think because most people who live here hear so much about it growing up and have seen it a few times, but if you take it for what it is historically it can be a big thing to you, i know people who have said going there was one of the highlights of coming to SA

    downtown also has the Tower of the Americas if you wanna check that out

    Rainforest Cafe downtown across from the Alamo is cool, the kids will love it as mine do, kinda pricey though unless you go during lunch, they have decent lunch specials

    If you like things historic then the Alamo and also see the other 5 missions. It's all along mission trail.
    I am just a lowlife overseas contractor who is all about the money.......

    It is lame if you're expecting something exciting - but its a historical marker. Kinda like a big headstone you can walk around in...

    If you do the Alamo, make sure to see one of the Alamo movies first. There is a theatre on the RiverWalk (River Center Mall?) that has the story. That will suck you into the history part and make the visit to the building itself a bit more interesting for the kiddos! "Admittance to the Alamo is free of cost and the site is open to visitors from 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Saturday, and 10 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday."

    La Villita is this little artsy-fartsy section of the RiverWalk. It has shopping for the wifey, and kewl little trinkets for the kids. Neat stuff to look at, but I don't think I've ever purchased anything there....

    It is near the Magik Theatre. Depending on the age of your kids, they may groove on whatever is showing ... Welcome To Magik Theatre...Where Imagination is Education. Its more elementary school aged interest level.

    Which is next to Hemisphere Park. SA hosted the World's Fair in 1968. This is the remnants of that... fun to putter around and look/see. In the summer, when it is screaming hot, the kids can play in the water fountains ...

    Go up the Tower of the Americas in the Hemisphere Park and get a good view of the city. Its expensive to eat there, but I've done it once - at dusk. Watching the town lights come on and the sun set was kinda neat! But 4 people can easily blow $100 for dinner.... If you don't feel like eating there, the patio is available for just looking around...

    One Note: Bring sunscreen - like SPF 45. If it is sunny - you will easily broil, as a lot of this stuff is not shaded.

    yes, just fyi the alamo is not in a big open field like in the movies anymore...thats what threw me through a loop, but still cool to see if you're a history nut.

    make sure you make it to Biffs on friday night if you like cars

    I think that is what most people expect. San Antonio has grown up alot since March 6, 1836. What makes the Alamo more special to me is the fact one of my best friends is a direct descendant of William Barret Travis.

    Well I myself would like to go to the Alamo as it is some where I have always wanted to go.. I enjoy this history stuff to.. Where and what is Biffs??

    Wink SA things to do

    Depending on the age of your kids the Witte Museum has a great interactive Dinasour exhibit going on.Easy to find off 35 and Broadway close to LuLu's Cafe,the CFS with queso is the Deputy if I am correct.Small parking lot so watch out at peak times 1:30 for lunch is a ggod time and still get lunch special priceing on Cfs.Enjoy!

    yup lulu's is very good and i thought the cinnamon roll was 6lb's but i could be wrong but it is the biggest roll i have ever seen...

    Well we are back and we had a pretty good time... Went to the Alamo, Sea World and Did the Riverwalk boat ride.. We also ate at the Magic Time Machine which wasnt bad. Ate at a few other places and did some mall shopping..
