theres fiesta texas also for the kids

while your downtown you can do that boat ride on the riverwalk...again for those of us that live here not very thrilling but you get to see the riverwalk from a different perspective...it is a bit nicer to do at night when everything is lit up and people are partying. The alamo cna be kinda ehh I think because most people who live here hear so much about it growing up and have seen it a few times, but if you take it for what it is historically it can be a big thing to you, i know people who have said going there was one of the highlights of coming to SA

downtown also has the Tower of the Americas if you wanna check that out

Heres links of stuff to do, some i may argue arent worth the time but let us know what you wanna do really and we can tell you what its like.

Rainforest Cafe downtown across from the Alamo is cool, the kids will love it as mine do, kinda pricey though unless you go during lunch, they have decent lunch specials

It is lame if you're expecting something exciting - but its a historical marker. Kinda like a big headstone you can walk around in...

If you do the Alamo, make sure to see one of the Alamo movies first. There is a theatre on the RiverWalk (River Center Mall?) that has the story. That will suck you into the history part and make the visit to the building itself a bit more interesting for the kiddos! "Admittance to the Alamo is free of cost and the site is open to visitors from 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Saturday, and 10 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday."

Across the street is the Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe It Or Not ... http://sanantonio.ripleys.com/

If the kids are young, and walking may prove a chore ... try the Trolley Tour ... you can get off and on the trolley, which takes you all around that general area by the Alamo. http://www.historicsanantonio.com/ac...ithHopPass.cfm

If the weather turns yucky, there is the Institute of Texan Cultures (indoors) with lots of neat things that the kids will enjoy. The Institute of Texan Cultures Home Page Followed by the Witte Museum.... http://www.wittemuseum.org/calendar/index.html

La Villita is this little artsy-fartsy section of the RiverWalk. It has shopping for the wifey, and kewl little trinkets for the kids. Neat stuff to look at, but I don't think I've ever purchased anything there....

It is near the Magik Theatre. Depending on the age of your kids, they may groove on whatever is showing ... Welcome To Magik Theatre...Where Imagination is Education. Its more elementary school aged interest level.

Which is next to Hemisphere Park. SA hosted the World's Fair in 1968. This is the remnants of that... fun to putter around and look/see. In the summer, when it is screaming hot, the kids can play in the water fountains ...

Go up the Tower of the Americas in the Hemisphere Park and get a good view of the city. Its expensive to eat there, but I've done it once - at dusk. Watching the town lights come on and the sun set was kinda neat! But 4 people can easily blow $100 for dinner.... If you don't feel like eating there, the patio is available for just looking around...

One Note: Bring sunscreen - like SPF 45. If it is sunny - you will easily broil, as a lot of this stuff is not shaded.

I think that is what most people expect. San Antonio has grown up alot since March 6, 1836. What makes the Alamo more special to me is the fact one of my best friends is a direct descendant of William Barret Travis.
