it dont matter where you go, there is crime everywhere. best thing you can do is have a good alarm, park it inside, and pray it gets left alone when in public.

I think you've got a pretty good idea of who the prime suspect might be. Granted, don't expect to get anything back... Even if, by some miraculous turn of luck, they catch the guy; your stuff is probably gone.

The last time I was broken into, I believe that USAA covered a portion of what was lost. Certainly not enough to cover everything; but enough to help quite a bit.

The finger-printing Officer just left. All he did was dust the door handle and window. Looked inside, and made a comment about how he couldn't get anything due to the rain from the storm last night.

Then went on to tell me how nice of a car I have...and that my rims were nice, and looked new.. and that "..a nice car like this, with nice rims like that.. it's like laying cheese out for rats to come get. It's too flashy to not leave alone.."

Well that's comforting.

He also said that this area is "really bad" for crime. I knew that, but I can't afford to live very far from base...though, I think I'm going to find something near 1604.

Anyways...

Now, I just wait for the adjuster from USAA to call, so I can get the damage repaired.

Sounds like the dill weed that took our report when bought our 02 F-150. We had just bought it a couple of days before and hadn't even made our first payment when some little ricer punks did the screwdriver bit and took cd's. Apparently they had come to see a Acura that was for sale a few doors down and came back a few days later and hit that house and a few others while they were at it. There were witnesses who saw them gave descriptions of the perps, car(Yelow Mitsu. Lancer), license plate, etc.. but nothing ever came of it.

The reporting officer said that "a vehicle like that should be parked in the garage", he then went on to lecture us using original cd's and why did we not burn. We tried to explain thet it didn't fit with the type of garage door we had then and how there is a work table at the rear so the tuck doesn't fit in side, but he was it's your fault for having a nice vehicle. My wife was bout to take his gun away from him and beat him over the head with it.

Some cops aren't meant to be cops.

Well at least they tried to take fingerprints. When my car was broken into and CD player stolen in a business parking lot the cop never got out of his car. Pulled up and asked me what happened. Told him and he took some notes in that little spiral notebook they carry in thier breast pocket and left. Total time 3 minutes. End of story....never heard anything!!

The fense thing doesnt keep them out. Some times the crooks live there or have friends that live there. Or they will just wait and follow somone in. I use to live at Hidden Lake...which is down the street from your house. Very nice appts however the garages were on 6-10 month waiting list and my car was broken into twice in a 8 month period. I got out of my lease early and moved into a house. that was just crazy and my car wasnt even nearly as nice as daves car. It was all stock. I think they were trying to take the whole car

lol why would u worry about garaging your car there.. you garage a corolla over your stang, your opinion is unvalid! high fences is better than NO fence

ummm lets see full coverage on the stang...liablity on the corolla (which by the way is gone and being replaced in a couple of day! )

which one would you rather have stolen??? The one with liablity or full coverage??? thats just common sense. i dont value cars and objects that highly...here today gone tomorrow!

you have the worst luck, Dave.

i keep mine in the driveway and park my wife's CTS in the garage. there's a GT down the street from me. no one would want to screw with a 6er with a GT 6 houses away. at least that's what i am hoping.

Agreed, it is nothing more than controlled access.

My neighborhood is gated but we have our fair share of people waiting for someone to pull up so that they can follow into the community. We do have video surveillance cameras posted at the entry and exit gates so we have footage of who comes in along with the license plates if they are placed in their proper locations on the vehicle. We also had an issue with people entering the community through the exit gate but a one way retractable spike strip took care of that matter.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Dave.

Oh, poor Dave! What an asswipe ... I never understand why someone would think that stealing someone else's hard-earned items would make them feel better about themselves ....

I'd rent a mini=storage bay, and buy a beater to drive from the storage to home in .... take the beater to the bay, drive the beauty to work, and back to the storage, and then take the beater back home at night. LOL!

I can see you in a '82 Corolla .... with the hidden diamond in the storage bay!

Actually, hon, moving really sounds like a wise move.
