shortening rims?

has anyone had any experience with this? i was wanting to do it before i got my 16"s in the front. i was running 17"s all around, but after the front was lowered, the rim was rubbing the shock, so i wanted to get it shortened, and thought it would look pretty sweet to make them skinnies. cobra R skinnies. haha. atleast ill be more original than the rest of the R crowd.

but, instead i dropped 500$ or so to just get the 16"s. but, i still think it would look bad ass to make them skinnies, and then put 17x10.5s in the back. has anyone had any experience with shortening rims? i called a rim widening place a while back, and asked them if they could, and they said it would be 100$ or so for each rim.. i think thats what he said. it was a while back.

he also said it wouldnt be safe to cut more than 1.5 inches off, but he only recommends 1". anyone think it would be safe to run 16x6.5 or 16x6" R rims? i think it would look sweet, and be kinda effective...

There was the one female racer that came out on one of the mags that was running 16x4 or 16x5" pony rims. she had them shortened, but had a difficulty finding a tire for it. It turns out no one makes skinnies for 16" rims. She ended up gettting a motorcyle tire for the front. But in the article said, that company no longer makes that size tire for the 16x4/5/6 sizes.

So, all in all, you may not find a tire for a shortened 16" rim
