you need some good flowing heads or else your wasting your time, the stock cam and 1.7 rockers is a good combo until you get some massive heads.

Find some used but clean AFR 165's and spend a few bucks on a custom hydraulic roller cam from FTI (Ed Curtis) .

I'd also have someone do some minor clean up work to the intake and install a 1/2 phenolic spacer . As for fuel pumps , go with a 255 Walbro . It will be plenty big enough down the road and cost about the same as the smaller ones .

Keep the intake valve @ 1.94 on any
except maybe the TWs and be sure
to check piston to valve clearance.

You dont list any exhaust mods.
Have you got aftermarket headers
with that exhaust?

I have a custom FTI cam 499/499 lift, just a little bigger than an E-cam. $100 shipped. And its a perfect cam if you wanna use a power adder as well. Its just sitting in my garage after I pulled it out of the (1200 miles)306 I bought and I put a X-cam in its place.

If you end up with some AFR's or anything near that in size , do yourself a favor and buy long tubes and matching X pipe .
