I felt the same way growin up, myself. Cops always stopped me for doing something, most of which was my fault anyway. Now that I am a cop, I see why they were such hard asses. As for the "Small town cops" issue, everyone has their own opinion based on their experiences with police. Regardless of what we think of the police at times, they are still the ones that haul ass to a bad scene not knowing what the outcome may be, while others simply scurry away from the danger...

Oh yeah....Well Im more stupider, I might even be the most stupider....oh and I DO work for one of those cities listed. Dont worry, we havent even noticed you not coming through.
I agree, let SAPD cover the whole county.....they are doing a great job, just check the crime stats and the average 1hr response time to non emergency calls if they show up at all. |

wow and i want to get into this line of work. I can honestly say that every time i've been pulled over(including once by DPS) i have just been as courtious, respectful and honest as possible. and i have never been cited(knock on wood). But thanks to my 4.10's speeding isn't really feasable for me any more. but the moral of the story iis don't speed and don't get ticketed period.

I got pulled over in a small town for doing 77 in a 65 (it was dusk, so arguable still a 70, but that's still 7 over). I had an expired license (stupid Colorado license, it was only good for 2 years!? My TX one is good for 10!) and the registration was in the glovebox. The officer told me that Will had to drive, politely opened my door for me, and told me to have a nice night. Didn't even get a verbal warning. Moral of the story - not all small town cops are asses...I can think of at least one anyways!
But yeah, don't speed, and you won't get a speeding ticket. Or, buy a radar detector and at least slow down around cops.

With me it doesnt even matter what im driving, cops look at me and follow me. I had a cop that kept pulling me over making bullshit tickets. I had nothing in my car or possesion, didnt speed, and he kept tellin me to get out of his area, yet he was in MY area. I had to drop off my brothers at school which was in the middle of "his" area, he would stop me, get me out of my car, search me and my car and call me a drug dealer, the last time he pulled me over i almost hit his ass, called me a junkie. one time he gave me a ticket because my front tire was over the white line under the stop light, THERE WAS NO FUCKEN LINE. and stupid stuff like that. I do have a past but not on record, and maybe i do look like i might be trouble, , but i didnt do anything to this asshole, he just made my insurance go up, because he had beef with a bald mexican. So i dont care were the cops works, if they got beef with me because of the way i look then screw them, and yea, as soon as u make the decision to speed, you take the chacne of getting a ticket, but pety tickets are bull shit. 10+mph get a ticket, under that, let it slide, unless in neighborhoods and school zones. I agree with the ZERO tolerance school zone and no cell phones in school zones.

Wanna talk about what a fine job one of those mentioned small towns do? How about the time I jumped 3 car burglars off duty at my neighbors house and the report that was written by one of thier sergeants was only 5 lines long and was written as "criminal Mischief" and not burglary of Vehicle as it should have been, not to mention the fact the officer didn't list the description of the car, the 3 actors, or the freakin license plate number of the bad guys car....nor the fact that the witness (me) was an off duty officer....

Yeah Bounty Hunter us small town cops don't get B.S. calls. I'm sure we get the same ones you big city guys get. We might not get as many but we also don't have as many officers so the average is about the same. As for lazy cops I'm sure those numbers average out as well. Open your eyes brother we're all on the same team and if my son/ daughter received three tickets in four months I wouldn't be upset at the officer he/she did'nt make them speed. I wouldn't of written for it, but I also wasn't there either and to second guess another officer for doing something that happened when I wasn't there is just plain wrong. Just cause they're our kids doesn't mean there angels when we're not around. Bad form to be a popo hater when you are one too. This kind of B.S. in public gets good cops hurt. Cop might of been right or wrong but we should always be professional. I'm done now and I'll get off my soap box.

Well, since you opened the door: All PD's get the bullshit calls, civil standbys blah blah blah....The difference is, the small town officers don't sling the bullshit line of "We're out fighting real crime, we don't have time for that shit" Where do I get the hour response time if they show up at all??? From experience....the same place you get all the shit you have been spewing since you started this thread. When I have been in the unfortunate situation that I needed SAPD, it took the patrolman just under an hour to get there. I couldn't believe it. I called dispatch twice in the hour just to make sure that someone was coming. I have been at dinner in uniform sitting next to SAPD officers and heard the call come out on the radio. Observed the officer answer the call, continued to eat, then get back on the radio and report the call as unable to locate.... 10-8, never once leaving his seat. Here are more examples of MY dealing with the SAPD.......not stories I have heard.....these are my actual dealings with the city's finest. My favorite: I was 18 in the military, I had car troubles and start walking to use a phone. I walk down FM 1346 which as you may or may not know turns into East Houston. I was using a pay phone to call someone for help when a group of 6 guys walks around the corner. 2 walk up to me an start telling me to give them money, 1 sucker punches me and the fight is on. The other 4 jump in and I get hit over the head with a payphone receiver, breaking the phone and knocking me out. They run off with my wallet and car keys. When I come to, there is blood everywhere, the clerk calls SAPD and SAFD. I'm treated and refuse transport by EMS. While the SAPD officer is taking my report, a young lady comes up to the officer and tells him that she knows what happened and that the guys that did it are around the corner at the bus stop. The SAPD officer does not take any info from the girl nor does he ever go around the corner to see who these guys are. After he takes my report, I ask him for a courtesy ride to someplace a little more safe.........His response, " I'm getting off work in 10 min, I'll have someone else come check on you." Then he drove off leaving me standing in the middle of the parking lot. No other SAPD officer ever came by. I owe SAPD a lot for that one, cause at that moment, I decided that I would never be "That Cop" and leave someone asking for help in a situation like that. Big thanks to the SAPD for that one. Oh BTW, I was a military police officer when this occurred. Example 2: I'm booking a prisoner at the mags office when I walk in to the intake DA's office. Just in time to hear this conversation between Bull (I'm sure you know who he is) and a SAPD officer: Bull: Let me get this straight, LAST WEEK you took a robbery report at this lady house where she had jewelry stolen. SAPD: Yes Bull: Today you get called back for a different report and while you are there, the lady points out a guy telling you that he was the same guy that robbed her LAST WEEK. SAPD: yes Bull: So you arrested him for the robbery last week......Today?? SAPD: Yes Bull: You know you need a warrant to make an arrest that long after the incident, Right?? SAPD: Oh, is that how it works??? Example 3: Booking a prisoner into the mags office when I'm confronted by an SAPD officer. "Oh, so you guys can book people I see", I tell him yeah. He ask, then why do you call us to come pick up people you arrest on SAPD warrants?? We're too busy fighting real crime to be messing with that bullshit.....Whatever, if you don't want them arrested, don't put the warrants into the computer...pretty simple. Especially when you consider that most PD's don't even mess with your warrants until there are 3 or more, stop bitching. When Live Oak, Selma, UC, and Converse arrest on each other warrants. We go pick up our prisoner's and don't bitch about it. North Hampton, Dover and other subdivision are trying to get out of San Antonio's jurisdiction because of the poor service. I can speak for North Hampton because its surrounded on all sides by Converse. You never see SAPD in there unless its to answer a call. And save the bullshit about how big San Antonio is. You guys all work out of sub-stations and are assigned districts within your area, Most of your districts are no larger that the small cities you are complaining about here. Big city this and big city that......remember that although you are the big city, us small town wanna be's are the majority around the state and that San Antonio, didn't magically appear one day with a population of 1 million, it started out small like the rest of us. That most small town cops pay to put themselves through the police academy. So take your 3.5 X for working holidays, your paid benefits for all of your family, your overtime, your collective bargaining, your police union, and high salary and remember that us wanna-be's are doing the same damn job for a lot less and paid money out of our pockets to do it. If anything that I have said here offends you, take a look at post #1 and remind yourself who started the bitching, complaining, name calling, better than thou, "I'm gonna get me a small town cop" bullshit. Its not that we don't get enough shit from the public as a whole, but for it to be started by a brother officer is what really pisses me off. Last edited by TheBocSez; 02-03-2007 at 07:51 AM. |

Yes I know we have slugs on the dept. I can't speak for them and am not proud of them,...for the most part picking up warrants is low priority so it does get put on the bottom of the stack.
I know the smaller PD's can't afford take an officer off the street for the time it takes to book for our warrants so we need to pick up our warrants. I know some guys get pissed because when we are backed up on calls on a Friday or Saturday night it can be frustrating...I look at it this way, If I'm picking up the warrants it's less BS calls I gotta go to..... I too have been next to a guy who got a call and took his sweet time. Trust me if you were in my patrol car when these guys are milking calls you 'd see how pissed I get at our guys. The bad thing about North hampton is that the district the brainiacs decided to put it in is busiest district in the north service area....I used to have that district and it never failed that everytime I tried to patrol it I would get an emergency call clear back to rittiman or austin hwy. actually you have to drive thru the county to get to the sub divsion....The city just got tax dollar greedy. Dover tho is not ours. Nobody here at SAPD gets triple time and a half for holidays. Since I worked next to widcrest for many years I know they write lots of tickets for BS reasons....Did you know that if you didn't have the "windcrest" "W" sticker on your car they would write you for whatever they could find? I had one of them give me a stacker of stickers and tell me that if I had someone they wanted messed with that all I had to do was put the sticker on the rear bumper upside down.. I really can't be angry about the speeding ticket...like someone said I wasnt there and she may have had attitude....when she got home and I banged the license plate light it went on... I know I came off way too hot and strong, and I apologize for that. It's just that the three times I've been confronted by Converse guys one chased my wife into the driveway for a burned out head light and was yelling at her...then when a car matt fell off my trunk in the neighborhood, I was driving less than 15 mph looking for it in the dark I got stopped and the officer was chewing my butt but good saying I was driving 58 in a 20...and claimed he got me on his dash mounted radar when he was perpendicular to the road.....then accused me of being DWI....when he got my license and ID his whole attitude changed then left quickly, leaving me there to wonder what the heck that was all about. The last time I got stopped by converse there were three of us drivng on 1604 by boysville, where I think it drops from 60 to 50 mph...I was between two pick up trucks on a sunday morning...all three of us were doing the same speed, 60 mph but I was in my mustang and he picked me to stop...not the guy in front not the guy behind me...he made the guy behind me back off so he could stop me...he did nothing wrong, he was professional and only issued me a warning...(for which I was very greatful)....just wondering why the mustang and not either truck. I am not pissed off and am not offended...I knew I would get a blast from both barrels for saying what I said....I just have a bad habit of saying what comes to mind when it comes to mind.... P.S. San Antonio's population is bigger than Dallas's..yet they have twice the officers that San Antonio has. Again I know I have pissed off some peeps here and I apologize.

It's all good fellas
![]() I actually wanted to become a law man, i have a high intrest in it, but Im sure i never will pursue it, but I knew I could offer something good/better, and safer to the public, ever since a schertz cop put his glock to my head after knocking me down, when i was standing in front of a house. Turned out he was chasing a robbery suspect, and he came around the corner and thought i was him (it was dark), at 14 yrs old, I had never had a loaded gun to my head, so i was somewhat traumatized after the whole situation, and thought it could have been handled a little better, but oh well everyone makes mistakes, it's good when people can at least admit that, and swallow their pride for a second, but no, the cop left me on the ground spread eagle and ran off in pursuit ![]() I think the cops here are all cool though, judging from the past post. later
