In a school zone or residential area?? That would be unusual, We almost have a standing policy that we don't write tickets for less than 10 unless other circumstances are present that intensify that issue. PM me you name, I would like to look at that one.

Just saw on the news tonight that Austin PD traffic units will start writing for 5+. In all honesty, the way people drive in Austin, I don't blame them going to that "extreme".

Today I worked IH-35 and most of my cit's were for 90+...WTF? over. Then they are pissed because they got a ticket? One day I'll just go out there and write everything I see at 75+

Yeah, over the holidays, I sat on Loop 1604. Since it was a holiday I decided to get in the spirit and didn't pull anyone over unless they were doing 15 over and no tickets unless they were doing 20+ over. Still wrote 6 tickets in about 3 hrs of sitting there. Fortunately, none of the people I stopped had issue with it.

I think the our LSS cops would probably be the most lenient out there since they themselves are car guys...

I think all our LSS cops are awesome, small town or big town, everyday they put their lives on the line for our safety. As it goes in all lines of work, there will always be a few bad apples in the barrel, but what about the stories of all the good things police officers have done for their community. I'm sure for the many bad stories you hear, you will have triple the stories of rape, homicide, burglary, etc. that are caught. And it seems we've all got our own story of the guy who let you go with a warning. Let's focus on the real enemy here...Those damn Texas State Troopers !!!! j/k Thank you all for your service!

Thanks PonyTX.
God made police so that fireman would have heros.
Thanks for posting your appreciation. There are alot of people out there who don't like cops until they need us, but fireman get all the love. This whole thread comes down to everybody needing to vent at some time.

I personally start issuing citations at 15(+) mph over the speed limit, I think that’s fair. But there is no standard when writing a ticket; it’s officer’s discretion. You have to determine what's reasonable and prudent for the conditions and location.

IMO, Bashing other agencies is not right; you just never know who will read this; and this sort of thing could hurt someone’s career.

I think this Thread should be locked.

wow there's a lot of policia on the boards.... Don't let it get you down Bountyhunter. There will always be assholes out there. All you can do is be the best Popo you can be and let the other guys worry about their own issues. For every "incident" I've had with asshole cops there have been a few that were ok and let me know that there are a few out there that still do their jobs for the right reasons!

I'm pretty surprised about the ticket going 7 over but I agree with mostly everyone else with it being in a slower speed zone. Now I'm from Illinois so my opinion probably doesn't count as mush since all the interstates in Illinois are like the autobahn haha. I've never dealt with a small town cop from being up here but I'm sure I will once I move in a couple months. Typically I go 5mph over on main roads.

EDIT: wow from 2007 lol
