Check a look at both NADA and KBB, right now their values are very near each other and the machs are 2-4 years newer. i dont know about the 99 cobra but i know the 01 cobra is hanging right there in value next to the newer machs.....i dotn have the build numbers but that might have something to do with it also.

Sounds like a typical parent reaction. They are only looking out for you. I used to feel the same way, but parents have a different outlook on things due to their experience, and more than likely, they Have been there and Done that already.
You are basing everything right now on an Army lifestyle and you haven't even left for basic yet. A lot can happen between now and then and nothing in life is ever 100% certain. You could be hurt in basic and be medically discharged. Haven't you read about the AF recruits that died in Basic, some while doing PT and some from a respiratory infection that was going round the baracks. I'm sure they were just like you and thought nothing could happen in basic. Not to rain on your parade and all, but one day you will begin to understand why parents and adults think the way they do. You haven't been around enough to gain good life experiences that will help guide your decisions, so in the meantime you should look at both sides of the coin.

I saw the KBB for my car as well. I laughed at it. A nice, well-taken-care of Mach 1 is easily worth $18k, in my opinion. 55k miles is nothing for them.
Even NADA says $17k minimum. I think the economy's floundering status has the consumer auto guide people underselling things. I'm only selling it because I'm fickle when it comes to cars and I want to try something else. ![]()

I dunno dude, I agree with you somewhat but I bought my Mach for $18k 2 years ago with 35k miles on it. Mach prices have dropped and I've seen some nice low mileage cars sell for $17-18k. Hell, I've dumped a good bit of money in my car and I'd be extremely happy to get $19k out of it.

![]() But it has been immaculately taken care of. It has never been dirty for more than a day, and I'm very anal about changing the oil every two months or so. It is a very nice car.
