yeah if thats what you want for it, then hold out til you get what you want especially if you dont need to sell. I really dont think you will get that. I know you have taken REALLY good care of your car but its still a man made car that depeciates with time. And with the way gas prices are v8s have lost ALOT of money. You can get a brand new v8 truck for 10-20k off the MSRP depending on the truck. I have been car shopping three times in the 1 1/2 years. and prices on v8s have dropped. Little cars with I4 engines are selling for more than book values and v8s are selling for less than book values. Its jsut supply and demand.....alot of people dont want a v8 now so their values are hurting because of it

I understand all of that. It's up to Ryan_65, in the end. I would like the car to go to a good home.

yup.
Well, if the cobra i'm looking at sells before i get back from basic training your mach 1 is my second choice, only because i would be making payments of 175/month instead of 300+/month.
and i will definately take care of her, so dont worry bout that

I'd personally take her advice. Get done with basic and then get your new toy.

I am. I talked with her and I'm going to wait . Just hopefully it doesn't sell before I get back. But I might give him a down payment as an advance so he can just hold it til I get back. Not sure yet though.

I would use my bonus cash, but the 8k bonus is going into an investment account and my savings account.
175/month is nothing, and I can always pay extra to get it paid off sooner.

So you expect someone to take a cash down payment on a car and then hold it for you and keep making payments on it for 10 months? Doesn't make any sense to me at all.

I couldn't afford jack shit on E2 pay. I wasn't completely comfy with a car payment and insurance until I made E3..and I wasn't exactly a baller then, either.

You don't understand. He's not making payments on the 97 Cobra. So I could give him a down payment for the car to hold it for me til I get back from basic, than I'll take out my loan and start paying on it.
and its 10 weeks, not months.

e2, maybe e3

Well, I'll be living on base. I only have a phone bill of $45 and insurance on my '65 which is $80/month. So thats only $125 of bills I pay each month. So another $175/month for loan and $265/month for insurance is easily doable.

Don't you have a child support payment as well? I remember my days as an E3 well. I couldn't afford shit then. I wish I would have stayed in. I'm sure I would have been E8 by now........

Yes but I will be getting paid another $200-$300 to cover it from the Army.
I don't see how you can't afford shit when I won't be having a rent bill, grocery bill or anything else major. As e2 I will be making $1500 and some change. So I figure, $125 for the bills I have now, add another $400 or less(probably less for insurance, haven't got a quote for when I'm active from USAA yet), I'll be good.
Jose afforded a new truck payment and insurance while he was in basic...
I've looked over everything and thought over it.

Plus, having another car as a DD will give me how ever long I want to take to get my '65 how I want without depending on it to get me places.

like Tim said. Army pays for it

oh and I'll be saving a good %25-40 of my checks, depending on my insurance and car payments.
