Hella of a lot more benefits and I don't need a degree to be a pilot! So I don't need to rush to get my masters in engineering

LMAO comissary only sales food......and you do pay a surcharge of 5% on food there, which at walmart and HEB you dont in TX....what your talking about is AAFES

well having been 18 only 5 years ago and knowing the excitement of coming into some money and the prospect of a new car, my advice would be to wait. It's never what you expect it to be and something ALWAYS comes up. In May I was looking at 07 Mustang GT's. I am making pretty good money now and am in my last year of my second degree so I was thinking I'm pretty set up for a car payment. Well then decided against it. My wife found out she was pregnant 3 weeks later. What if you get another chick pregnant. Or your running during basic and someone pushes you and you break your leg. It's improbable I know BUT it happens, all the time. Wait til you ge tout of basic. You'll have saved all that money they'll be paying while you're in. If he still has it then good. If not you'll find something better.

hey ryan are you sure you dont have to pay for your uniforms after basic? i was just told by my friend that just got out that he did. maybe its different on the program your going in on....

During basic he will be provided 4 pairs of ACU's, 3 pairs of PT's, 2 pairs of boots (summer and winter) and a set of Class A's if its still the same since 06 which im sure it is. After he is done with basic all uniforms will be up to him to buy.

you get a yearly stipend to help pay for new uniforms...and when you finish basic and ait you'll get to DX them which is a direct exchange for new ones. so both of you guys were wrong.

never said it takes the whole pay check, but you still have to account for it. every little thing adds up. Just trying to give you a heads up, i went through the same time in my life as you are right now about 3 years ago.
