Spec stage 1 wont stay where i wanted it

I dont know much about the tranny so i took a Stage 1 Spec clutch with the Steeda Adjuster cable with the Quad and firewall adjuster to a local shop and asked them to install. They installed it but didnt do the firewall adjuster because the instructions said to CUT off a part of the cable which inserted into the firewall. they wanted to talk to steeda before making a mistake so i agreed. They tried adjusting as far as they could without the firewall adj and the clutch still only ingages very high to the point of almost stalling trying to accel from zero. Took the car back once i called steeda and they said it should still be able to adjuster properly without the firewall adjuster and that they should try using the diff hook on the quad. I took the car back and they did that and then installed the firewall adj. They got the adjustment around the middle of the pedel and it felt good but after driving it home it went BACK to the top of the pedel. It didnt stay where we had it so what is wrong lol? i havent talked to the shop about it cause they seem like they dont like messing with aftermarket and i know i have heard of this problem before so i figured i would see what somone here might have to say before i go forward with trying to find a solution.

Yes, the f/w adjuster. Those things suck in my opinion.

Well... theres a lil screw in spot on the side i guess for the screw that holds it in its spot? I just looked at it and it either isnt there or it screwes in so far it goes into the mount.

That screw holds it in place, thats why they suck. Crappy design, can you pull the cable in and out from where it exits the fire wall, if so, the adjuster is your problem.

its atacked to the large screw that adjusts it in and out.... lol dont wanna try and detach it i dunno shit bout what that could do. And i did rotate it with ease when fiddling with it.... the whole cable rotates with it tho... so dunno how u could adjust that if it turns the whole cable round and round with it while u screw it in.

The screw keeps it in place once adjusted, but over time and with cable movement tends to come loose.

k... so the peice that screws in and out to adjust it should NOT move if its correct right? lol i know i sound stupid with that question but i know shit about this piece... ill probably call STEEDA tomorrow morning and talk to them about it. The cable is alrdy istalled and such so hopfully ill be able to fix this myself instead of taking it back to the shop.

Right.. should not move once the set screw is tight, you loosen it to adjust then tighten it back up.

Well.. the way its installed the adj screw is about an inch or so away from the lip of the top of the firewall so i dunno how the hell they were able to adj it that way unless they used something that had an angle on it. And should the screw be sticking out of the whole? cause im afraid its not even there can i dont see anything there and i can see inside the whole about 1/8 of an inch.

I bet there is no screw in there, they either forgot it (since they do not do that kind of work) or did not tighten it and it fell out.

I've gone throught a bunch of crap with the quadrants and adjusters. IMHO all are crap. Stock works perfectly. I have the Spec Stg 2 + and am using the stock cable with no adjuster (cause it's crap like Jody said), and the FRPP quadrant. I should have NOT even messed with the quadrant setup at all because my pedal was perfect with the Spec and factory clutch actuation. I thought (because people told me) that I would have quadrant flex, but I never felt that at all. The Spec clutches do not justify altering the quadrant, cable, etc. Some may disagree, but again I can go on forever about my recent experiences with this crap. If your stock quadrant EVER flexes, just buy a new one. IMHO there is no substitute unless you are a die hard drag racer.

the set screw comes in the package. +1 they probably didn't put it in. the only way to even tighten that stupid scew in to have the allen long ways down the hole and with the hole pointing up so you can get decent leverage and clearance.

The pedel feels like normal.. it just ingages very high so the whole car shakes and almost stalls trying to go from zero... all other gears are fine. when u say plus one what do u mean? cause if they didnt put the screw in then they probably dont know hwere the f its at.

well, the clutch is going to shudder for a while. it'll get better, but that's the way stronger clutches engage. +1 was just agreeing with Jody about the shop not installing the screw.

I have almost 400mi on my Spec, and it still shudders. you'll get used to that. where in a percentage of travel, does your clutch engage? 0% being the floor and 100% being totally off pedal.

Ok well a few more questions....
1 is it safe to drive for a few days with the adjustment so loose?
2 how hard will it be to find that screw? Lowes? or will i have to order from steeda?
3 am i able to screw it in and rig it till i get the screw? i dont know how far to screw it in or if it will fuck something up. Do i just screw in until its good and tight?
