speed density or mass air???running rich

ok i know this is probally a really dumb ass question...... but how do you tell if your car is mass air or speed density? i only ask cause the guy before me mutilated some wires. the car is running rich and i figure if it is maf i should probally fix it ASAP. i know he deleted the egr and i found some vacuum lines that were uncapped. i plug those up and it seems to idle and run a bit less rich. but i still can smell fuel...... i cleaned the coolant temp sensor like the write up said. checked the iat and its brand new.

    i drive an 88 gt 5.

sorry for such a jack ass question ive never owned an older muscle car or a ny muscle car for that matter

it came as a speed density, i would check for some more vac. leaks, unless he converted it to mass air, it is speed density, which reads off of a manifold pressure sensor, so (not that it's any less important on a maf car) vacuum is especially important on a speed density car. and a mustang isn't a muscle car, it's a pony car(long nose, short back 4 seater 2 door rear wheel drive)

Most likely it is speed density, but the '88 California cars use MAF. I have only seen one of those, so most likely it is not a California car.
The current combo is an '85 coupe with 302 bored and stroked to 364, Ported Twisted Wedge heads and a BXR intake, A9M ECM with a Moates chip, Doug Nash 5 spd, 4.56 gears, Hoosier 275/60/15 drag radials.
Daily driver '89 GT 302 stock block, crank, rods and pistons, ported GT-40P heads with stock valves, Ported Explorer intake, B302 cam, Z spec T5, 3.73 gears, Moates chip and no traction. Made 325 whp and 325 wtq.
