instead of each piston having one intake runner like in your car, the cars equipped with splirt port engines have 2 intake runners per piston.
You'd have to change heads, lower, and upper intake to have a split port engine
Good for 40-50 hp. I have a set of split port heads, upper intake, and fuel rail if you want to do the swap. All that is left is the lower intake you need.
how much would that cost? where could i find a lower intake?

i have my extra set of heads and ported upper for sale for 200, i think you might need the fuel rails from a split port as well.
you can prolly go to a salvage yard and pick up a decent lower for about 100 bucks. 99- 2001 dont come with imrc's wich will hurt some torque wise down low but is better up in the higher RPMs
what gains could i get from going split port?
what gains can i get from porting the stock intakes?

split port cars react better to bolt ons, like stated your going from one intake runner per cylinder to 2 intake runners per cylinder. if you have the opportunity drive a stock sn95 3.8 then drive a stock new edge v6, single ports need more work to be decent on the track then compared to a split port car
