    sprint 200 one barrel carb?

So I was noticing that the 66 is running real rich. its spitting in the exhaust ALso not getting as good a gas millage as back home in the high altitude desert. I can seem to find any info on if you can tune the stock one barrel carb or not. any help guys? I need to lean this thing out.

If it's the Autolite 1100, there should be an idle mixture screw on the base near the dashpot.

Also is it a manual or auto choke, as you can adjust that as well by loosening the 3 screws and turning the black piece left or right to adjust the position.

See here for basic info on adjusting it

yeah I was looking for info on it andcant find anything. my step dad was saying that he thought the 1 barrel stocks where a standard jet and cant be adjusted. It is a Autolite 1100. From what it looks like somone had disconected teh mannual choke cable hat runs under the dash. and the choke leaver on the carb is wired back into full open.

Try this. With the car off run the idle screw all the way in and then back it out 1 1/2 turns start it up and then tweak on it till it runs smooth and doesnt sputter. If that doesnt help get a carb kit for it and rebuild it shouldnt be more than about 25 bucks for a kit

The idle adjustmet screw is only going to adjust the idle mixture, so all other throttle posisions it will still be rich. I would suggest pulling the carb, get carb kit for it and overhaul it. If it still has a problem then you need to change the jet. The 1V carbs on inline 6s had problems with the two screws holding the main body to the base coming loose or just falling out. Also the gaskets under the car are well known for vacuum leaks. Also inline 6s are known for intake manifold gasket leaks between the head and intake. Ford had two basic inline 6s, the smaller inline 6 family included the 140, 170, 200 and 250, these are the car engines. The other inline 6 family were truck engines and were much taller, it included the 240 and 300. Most of the inline 6s I worked on were the 300s, in the trucks, but I know the car engines had a lot of the same problems. Other than the carbs falling apart and intake and carb base gasket leaks, they were all good engines.
The current combo is an '85 coupe with 302 bored and stroked to 364, Ported Twisted Wedge heads and a BXR intake, A9M ECM with a Moates chip, Doug Nash 5 spd, 4.56 gears, Hoosier 275/60/15 drag radials.
Daily driver '89 GT 302 stock block, crank, rods and pistons, ported GT-40P heads with stock valves, Ported Explorer intake, B302 cam, Z spec T5, 3.73 gears, Moates chip and no traction. Made 325 whp and 325 wtq.

so it looks more like I may just have to change the jet and rebild the carb. I adjusted the crews and well it quit spitting at idle but likie the last post said it seems to be still doing it in drive. I can see black splatter up and down my drive way of carbony unburnt gas spit. I know its not oil as when I had been behind the car and got someon my hand (first my leg) I then smelled it and it has the smell of gas and is also not slimy like oil.

Any one know where I can get a rebuild kit. I looked on autozone.com and they only show the holley carbs.

Lone Star Carburetor may have it or even have a rebuilt carb in stock. I had a few Holley and Autolite carbs rebuilt there back in the day.
