Welcome

Hello, I live in CC on Padre Island and welcome ya'll to town. I don't know where you are planning to gather at the beach on Saturday, but there is a large parking lot at the Pavillion just to the left as you enter Bob Hall park. It would be an excellent place to park the cars for display and will keep them off the sand.

Hope to see you at the beach or Funtrackers.

Mike

Thanks for the info.

Jeff and I are anxiously awaiting his new work schedule. He completes his service training on Wednesday, so we will know more tomorrow about what his schedule this weekend will be.

Regardless, if he is off of work we will be heading down that way to get away from SA for a while.

UPDATE

Stampede '06 has been canceled.

Due to several factors (lack of interest, high gas prices, bad weather forcast for the weekend) we have decided to cancel this year's Stampede.

Yeah, I think it should just be moved as well. It really just kinda came up randomly IMO. We should plan it again for like november or something.

Go to the beach in November? That makes sense!!

A cruise type event could be rescheduled, but with kids going back to school, both college and otherwise, we could not possibly reschedule this type of event at this point.

Just for reference, this is not a random event, it has happened this time of year for the past two years, and previously was called CCFITS.

Look for info on a cruise to be scheduled once the weather cools down a bit and we all get settled into our after summer schedules.

In November people are usually still wearing shorts, it's still usually warm enough that it's not out of the realm of possibility. We also still have October. Whether people are in school or not really shouldn't matter since it's on a weekend anyway and midterms shouldn't be till the end of the year. Anything can be rescheduled.

But anyways, in the future the date for the Stampede should be set at least 2-3 months before the event instead of 1 month.

You are right, 46 days in advance is not enough time to plan for a trip, but the interest was back and forth anyways. Even you (and Jeff and I) were not sure if we would make it or not until the last minute. That is a risk you take of planning an event where a large group of people are expected to attend. No matter what not everyone is going to be happy, nor be able to make it, so you do the best you can with what you have at the time.

This event is a 3 day trip, including a Friday, which last time I checked was a weekday, which most people whether with school or jobs would have to take off to go.

I, of course, am open to any suggestions for alternate trips to the area later in the year when it is not over 100 degrees outside, but the Stampede will remain canceled for this year, and planned again for the same location next year.....minus hopefully the temperatures and of course the prediction of a weekend of rain.
