Ever see anyone tint a window??? It's the same process...
What you'll need... Rubbing alcohol, dish soap (Dawn will do), water, small spray bottle, rubber scraper, and a blow dryer... and don't forget your vinyl, lol.

After you cut your vinyl into the shapes you want and know where you're going to put them clean the area of the car well with the alcohol and dry it.

Mix a small amount of the soap with some water in the spray bottle.

Spray the back of the vinyl AND the area where you are putting the vinyl. This will allow you to move the pieces wherever you want to make the straight or in the desired position. So, after spraying both vinyl and desired area, place the vinyl down and adjust it until it is in the correct position.

Once in position... use the rubber scrapper to get as much of the water out from under the vinyl as you can. Do this by scrapping from the middle of the vinyl out towards the edge. Make sure the scrapper you get is some what soft and don't press too hard or you'll scratch the vinyl. Like I said before... try and get as much water out as you can... the more you can press out the faster it will dry.

Now get the blow dryer and turn it on the highest heat level it will go... slowly pass over the entire area of vinyl to help dry the underside. If you have a heat gun and know how to use it that will work too and be a lot faster. This step will take some time but just be patient and move across the vinyl slowly.

If you see some bubbles under the vinyl scrape them out with your rubber scrapper. And after some drying go over the areas again with the scrapper and try to get more water out.

One thing I did was turned on some super HIGH/HOT shop lamps and pointed them right towards the vinyl areas to help dry the under side.

You don't have to get the underside completely dry so don't sit there for hours trying to. Don't touch the vinyl for a couple of days so it can completely dry.

The night I did my stripes it rained pretty hard but it didn't move them or anything so it's not like they are really sensitive or anything.

oh thanks for the info i will try it, was just asking because bob at baltimorestreetmods said they will be hard to put on. i have a 06 with the rousch front bumper and the eleanor hood.

stripe install can be tricky on s197s. There are alot of body pieces especially if you wanna go bumper to bumper. Now if you doing hood and truck only then do it yourself. but bumper to bumper looks to be a pain...i want stripes also and im gonna pay someone to do it for me because i dont wanna mess up even if it is easy. I rather a pro do my car becasue i want them to be PERFECT. Juan found me a place that is gonna do it for 200 total for 12" stripes. They are really busy i just havent found the time to get my car in there. The stripes from baltimore street mod are 160 so its basically 40 bucks for install. I think 40 bucks is worth the trouble to have a pro do it. Ill pm you the info

I really don't see the difference in doing only the hood or doing the whole car... once you have one part centered you just line the rest up with those. I do ALL my own work because it's MY car and no one will take more time to make sure it's done right (perfect) than me (the owner). I've never liked the idea of paying too much to have some under payed, ticked off employee work on my baby... I mean what does that person car if it's not perfectly centered... where as I would make sure it's PERFECT... just my .02 -JM

thats all fine and dandy if you have the time and know how. but someone like me that is limited with time i would rather let a pro do it. Somone who does it for a living and has work to back it up. especially for a difference of $40 bucks. All my other mods i have done myself with the help of other people, except for the welding on my exhaust. I know i dont have the time to make sure its 100% perfect. Im not haveing some tick off person do it, the owner of the shop is doing it and knows i will keep bring it back until its 100% so might as well as do it right the first time. Also they offer a warranty if something goes wrong with it ....ie fading..bubbles, etc. I think its great that you did your own its just something i would rather not deal with myself when the fee is so nomial

Yea those guys I found do bad ass work, they were working on a white s197 the day i got the info, they were adding blue stripes to it, and it looked great.

I never said anyone put a gun to my head however i have never seen any of their work. Alot of people i called wont touch a s197 bumper because they said they have tried and it never comes out straight and the cust is always mad. Thats why i was trying to tell redhot that it was tricky because of all the curves. I had professional that do this for a living tell me they will only do hood to truck not bumper to bumper... but we will see tomorrow

Here is a small sample of the work. I had it done yesterday and it looks GREAT!!! The guy said it actully turned out to be harder than normall because of my hood scoop so hes not sure if he will be doing any more s197s for that price. Im still talking with him to find out. But since he had quoted me that price he stood by it along with the warranty. Once i hear back from him if hes going to do others Ill pm or post his info!!
