Stroker
i am building up a 69 302 and am at the point where i am dealing with a question to stroke or not. i have pistons for it and the block has been bored to them and the rings. now i have the original 302 crank, wanting to know if i can just get a crank to stroke it out or do i need to get the crank and rods? let me know guys..... thanks.

you have to change the crank rods and pistons to stroke the engine you dont just change the crank
the position of the wrist pin in the piston along with the stroke of the crank and the rod length is what makes for the strokers stroke not just any one piece. its theoreticly possible to get a rod that is shorter then the stock rod by the length of the stroke increase but that would mean a custom rod and a huge expense. so in other words buy a stroker kit or just get a decent rod and turn the crank you have .10 .10 and balance it then reasemble it.

you can spend a reasonable amount and piece together a forged 331 eagle setup. This way you can supercharge it reliably at 450+
or if you just want some cubes to push you around, you can pick up the trick flow 347 rotating assembly, or the revised CHP kit if you plan on putting a lot of miles on it.

If you want to build a rowdy 347 and shoot for 400 + at the wheels then a different approach is necessary and i am sure PSI or myself will help you get there.
what heads are you using?

i sent you a pm... stay w/ stock crank/rods if you had the block bored to the pistons and rings you already have.. you're not gonna change the displacement w/o changing pistons unless you go with $$$$$$$$$$$$ custom rods like stated above..
