Sub/Amp Mach 460

Has anybody here added a sub/amp to a Mach 460 system? I've seen the articles but there seems to be some debate as to where to splice into the system.

are you trying to keep the factory deck, or going after market? if you're staying with the factory deck, you need to run a Line Out Converter tapped in behind the deck, or at the INPUT side of the Mach amp. It doesn't matter if you tap into the front or rear channel as you will get the same signal (input side only). Only matters if you are going to "fade" your stereo front or rear. Tap into the channels that have the most signal. For example, if you fade to the front you will want to tap into the front channel because the rear would have a lower output from the deck. I say not to tap directly into the speakers because the amps have internal crossovers which would change the frequency of the output. Assuming that you have active crossover or the aftermarket amp has an internal crossover, you want a "full range" input signal. I'm sorry I cannot tell you exactly which wires to tap into but I rarely use factory decks to run aftermarket equip. since the factory stuff has so little control. hope this helps a little.

Yes, I'm keeping the factory deck... for now... gotta love the 6 disc changer.

I'll post up the article I read and maybe you or somebody can guide me from there...

no problem. just a word to you though, those factory 6 dic in dash systems are prone to failure so be very gentle with it when you remove and reinstall it. you'll also see a sticker on it that says "Scrap if dropped".

Send a message via Yahoo to GateJockey81
i had mine done, and had to take it back b/c they ignored me when I told them the NOT to tap into the speaker line, the converter has to be tapped into the AMP to work right. good luck, its worth it

Well I finally got around to installing a punch 300 amp and 10" sub i bought back when I started this post... yes, I procrastinate... and holy cow what a difference. I still need to tweak everything and then clean up the wiring in the trunk. It wasn't nearly as difficult as some people make it sound. And for the $125 i spent on the equipment i think it was money well spent.
