Super Bowl at Francos

im still planning on being there, but thought of proposing a lottery. would anyone be intrested in doing the squares for like a dollar a box? im not quite sure what you call it, or how to set one up, but i thought it might add a little more excitement to the lss super bowl party. let me know if this is something you guys and gals would be interested in, and i will be happy to gather more info on it and have it ready for the meet tomorrow. :mick:

could be used as a slight fundraiser for LSS too.

like, say 10-25% of the total pot gets donated to help fund LSS, while the other goes to the winner(s) or whatever... :jeff:

you have rows and columns, like a table. the columns are the last digit of one team, the rows are for the last digit of the score for the other team. you usually make the table, THEN RANDOMLY select the numbers for the rows and columns, that way no one can sign up for a "better" number (multiples of 3 and 7 for field goals and touchdowns)... that way its completely randomized.

you check the board after each quarter, and award a 1/4 of the pot to the winner of that 1/4.

so, lets say for example, at the end of the first quarter, the score is 14-21 in favor of the patriots (you know they are gonna win!)
you'd go over to the "1" on patriots and then match it up with the "4" for the eagles, and see who's name is there. they win that quarter.

generally, the pot is tilted though. like, maybe 1/6, 1/6, 1/6, 1/4 (which i know doesnt add up to a total of 1.)

we could either give the rest to franco's as an extra tip, or donate to LSS.
if we used the fractions i presented, it would leave a total of 1/4 of the pot to donate to franco's or LSS. although, its all dependant on how much the squares are. i mean, with 100 squares @ $1 a piece, we're talkin $25 left over, and only about 17$ for the first 3 halfs, and 25$ for the final score. wouldnt be too bad of an idea. not that anyone is gonna be leaving there rich, but it would be a nice way of getting some cash to donate to franco's or LSS.

if we wanted the payouts to be greater, we could either raise the price per square (which would decrease interest in buying), or eliminate 1st and 3rd quarter drawings. this would then make the percentages more like 1/3 half time, 1/2 final, 1/6 donation. that would yeild 33$ for half time, 50$ for final, and ~17$ for donation.

If someone would set this up, I would do it, but honestly I still do not realyl understand that much. I am not very good at the whole realm of gambling!

So that would be a yes for Jeff and I. I am sure if it was there people would sign up, especially if it was $1 to $5 per spot.....

anything more than 1$ is pretty expensive. youd probably be more comfortable getting 5 spots for $5. there will be a total of 100 spots, remember that. so you've already only got a 1% chance of winning, technically, i suppose, if you get one square. i think 1$ squares should probably hold up well. :jeff:
