suspension

im getting my car some new h&r super sport springs. whill im down there im gonna get rid of the factory shocks and struts that have been there for 75k. what do you guys like for a moderately priced shock and strut, kinda leaning towards the tokico hp's. i dont really need anything adjustable because the car is just a daily and wont ever really see track time, but if the price is right...

I bought a set of Tokico HP Blue's off ebay and the price was pretty good. I've been very happy with them. The price is higher than they used to be but I still think they're a good buy.

so im gonna save and go with a kyb gr2 shock and spring sro some subframe connectors instead. i belive this will be better in the ling run. i dont really see myself needing aju shocks sence the car is never tracked, allthogh the new koni spring and shock set up is really tempting for 650 but that would put me about 125 over what i would want to spend and lift my car about 1/2 in wich i dont want.

Well my car never goes to the track either, but I've got KYB AGX's and I haven't had issues with them. I've changed settings a few times to see what differences it made. Even if it's a DD, I think it's still nice to have some adjustability, especially if you're lowered.

how noticable were the changes on your agx's when you would tweak them?

Well I never did any extreme change. When they were installed, the installers set them to max stiffness (8) and it was STIFF! Rears are adjustable from 1-8 and fronts are 1-4. Right now, I'm set at 4 or 5 in the rear and 2 in the front. I haven't tried going any less to see if the ride will get any softer, but I should now that i think about it. There is a difference, but I don't know how much you'd notice it. I think the springs make most of the difference in ride though. You would definitely notice difference in accelerating/braking. They really don't squat/nosedive much at all when set firm. Now I have a lil' of both.

If you dont like noise, strange shocks are not for you. They are pretty loud on the road from my experience and other accounts on the web.

I went with some Tokico blacks on my car because I dont like a low car and swapped my front spring(well.. will eventually swap it in) to a mach 1 spring for some extra spring rate up front.

The springs you chose are more for looks than anything(though they will handle better) So you dont really need anything adjustable to handle them well. I would recommend a set of bilsteins for a DD lowered car. Those shocks/struts are perfect for the task.

true but i dont plan on keeping the car long enough to justify spending that much on shocks.

Then dont mod it at all.. whats the point in spending money if your going to ditch the car. Take that money your gonna spend on suspension and put it in the bank.
