suspension help

i'm trying to help a customer of mine out, he has an 03 gt coupe that he wants me to lower here at the shop. he will be using ford racing c-springs, but i noticed the other day when i was working on something else on the car, that one of his struts is blown out.. he doesn't want to spend much more money that what it's already going to cost to do the repairs his car needs along with the springs and brakes he wants to do, so the question is, (this is a DD, so he doesn't need spectacular handling or anything like that) he wants a decent set of struts that aren't going to blow out on him because of the ride height change. i heard somewhere that you can use fox struts on lowered newer models. how true is this? from what kind of drop can you expect to get good results from the shorter fox struts? please help me out, he doesn't want to spend a lot, but wants decent results.. thanks

i'd hate to mail order because shipping will just up the price... the car is not going to be a track car, we just dont want it to be bouncy and crap because of busted struts right after he replaces them. we decided against the c/c plates for the time being to see if he even wears tires since c springs aren't much of a drop. obviously i'm no expert on new mustang suspensions but i lowered mine about 1.5 inches in the front and haven't been wearing tires or anything..

according to josh at stangsuspension.com fox struts work great for lowered sn95's. For such a little drop KYB's wouldn't be bad.

more of what i'm looking for, thanks t5killa, but what about on new edge gt's? or are those still technically sn 95's? if he can use a short one (fox chassis) he's gonna go w/ a "factory replacement" brand like monroe or something. otherwise, probably kyb.

the strut is the same height and will still work. but remember it only works with the struts the shocks are different.

I had new shocks/struts, C/C plates installed and didn't get an alignment right away. I advise against that logic as I had some pretty bad tire wear after 6 months due to too much negative camber. Once I noticed it, I got an alignment real quick! I obviously wasn't checking it often enough, but if thats your plan, you better check often. Time just flies by sometimes...

+1 on the alignment. I am getting my car done this weekend, and be driving it straight to a place to get it aligned, im not going to mess with all the uneven tire wear

those R nice struts and for a good price.

I would go with ANRMotorsports though. They work with you and are price VERY well and VERY FAIR. talk to them before rigging things.. hell he may even be able to help out with fox stuff if that's the way you end up going.

ANR started out as a fox shop to begin with, I would bet money he has something laying around that would work for you...fox bodies lined up outside all around the perimiter of the shop

ok so far ONE person has answered what i asked... you said the struts are the same HEIGHT.... therfore, i will tell him to wait and save for good ones. also, i dont see why c-springs need an alignment that bad, bigdrumma, he is NOT installing c/c plates, and you didn't say what kind of springs you got.. there are big differences here... different products act differently in set ups... for all i know you got sport lines or something....
