Suspension upgrades...

Ok, I am not a total noob at this stuff, but I am when it comes to the good 'old fox body mustang! I don't want or need to go all out and spend 4g on my suspension, but anything is better than stock. I am thinking about keeping it street/strip oriented. This car is my daily driver for now, and will be seeing the occasional track time! Anyhow, so far the car has front eibach drag springs, and eibach pro springs in the rear. I re-connected the front sway bar.. and can always disconnect the links at the track if need be. I just put some KYB shocks in the rear, and looking at buying some new struts and C/C plates for the front very soon. I should be ordering my sub frame's this friday, unless someone local sell's them? So, on to the nitty gritty, that takes care of the basics.. now I am looking at what to do mainly with the rear end to start! I have been looking everywhere from Maximum Motorsports, Griggs, Evolution, etc... I think a 3 link or watts setup is way more than I need, and would probably kill my launches. I need some input here, and am thinking about just going with a panhard bar and torque arm, as well as new upper and lower control arms. Does this sound like a decent setup for what I want/need? Then later on, I can throw on a strut tower brace, tubular k member and brace as well or whatever for the front to keep the understeer down.

Like I said, I would love to have any imput you guys might have! The car is a daily driver and I love hittin the corners, but it is not gonna be an all out corner carver OR strip car. Just need ALOT better handling than stock for any situation!

Ok I think I have basically decided to go ahead and go with Maximum Motorsports, and swap the upper and lower control arm's to begin with. Then get a panhard bar, and finally a torque arm. I think for a daily driver that see's the track occasionaly that should be plenty! Also, get a set of their C/C plates, new struts and poly bushing kit for the front, especially the sway bar bushings, those things are almost totally worn out hehe

Oh yeah, my TA Performance rear end girdle should be here in the next day or two, so that is going in this weekend if it comes in time!

What do you guys think?

sounds good.. are teh KYB's adjustable? to me, thats the key to versatility unless you jsut dont wanna mess with tweaking it everytime... i have a full steeda kit on my 01, its set up for road course/autox but a couple adjustments and it can be set up for pretty much anything

No, they are not adjustable.. I needed new shocks like ASAP and was tight on cash... I figure they will be getting swapped with adjustable's when I swap the control arm's for sure, and just keep them as spare's!

No, you can buy an inflatable air bag for the right rear spring so the car will launch straight. It keeps the rearend horizontal with the body. It aids in traction also since the same amount of weight is transfered to the rear wheels. Its a cheap and smart upgrade for a street strip car.

M/M stuff is pretty expensive...dont get me wrong, its good stuff, but i think the same results can be had from less expensive products.

But my question is, since you have the drag kit up front, is the car lower than stock? I always heard that the eibach drag kit didn't lower the car at all, unless you cut the springs?

also, i'm sure a stiffer front spring would help handling characteristics.

The control arms, panhard and torque are good for street, strip and handling, so thats a good start, but I would get the subframe connectors first, get a good set too.

I heard that Praxxis is coming out with a systematic 3 stage bag setup.
It will have automatic setups in suspension level for street strip and drag.

Thanks for all the great info fella's! I have alot more reading to do now =) The car is lowered, I don't know if the springs were cut or not up front, but it is lowered I know that much, I was thinking about changing out the front springs just for the mere fact it is a daily driver. Also, sub frames are next on my list! There is a local shop that I can get them installed at that has been recommended by many, and will be ordering them next week! As far as going with MM parts, I don't mind paying a little extra for the better stuff, I seem to go overkill on everything I build up, even computer's hehe
